📘 Book Insight: The Innovator’s Dilemma by Clayton Christensen
💡 Why do great companies fail?
Christensen’s groundbreaking idea: Listening too closely to your best customers can kill innovation.
When businesses focus only on improving existing products for current markets, they often miss disruptive innovations that start small—but eventually take over the industry.
🚀 Key Takeaways:
Disruptive innovation often looks unattractive at first.
Big companies struggle because success makes them rigid.
True innovation means sometimes serving new markets badly, before serving them well.
🔄 Example: Blockbuster vs. Netflix. Kodak vs. digital cameras.
Blockbuster had the chance to buy Netflix but dismissed it as a niche player. Kodak actually invented the digital camera—then buried it to protect its film business. Both clung to what worked, and both paid the price.
🔍 Are you improving what exists, or inventing what’s next?

🇰🇾 Discovery Day – Cayman Islands
On this day, we honor a pivotal moment in Cayman Islands history — the recorded discovery of our islands by Christopher Columbus on May 10, 1503, during his fourth voyage to the New World.
Columbus’s ships, La Capitana and La Santiago de Palos, were blown off course and sighted two small islands teeming with turtles — he named them “Las Tortugas”, inspired by the abundance of sea turtles in the surrounding waters. These islands are now known as Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
Though uninhabited at the time, the islands became an important stopping point for seafarers in the centuries that followed. They served as a refuge for pirates, shipwrecked sailors, and naval forces — all of whom played a role in shaping the culture and identity of the Cayman Islands.
Today, the Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory, reflecting a complex and evolving history that continues to influence their unique place in the Caribbean and the world.

🌍 Surprising Fact: The Largest Desert on Earth is... Antarctica! ❄️🏜
When most people hear the word desert, they imagine endless sand dunes and scorching heat. But in scientific terms, a desert is defined not by temperature, but by how little precipitation it receives—whether rain, snow, or moisture of any kind.
🔹 Antarctica receives less than 2 inches (50 mm) of precipitation per year, mainly as snow.
🔹 That’s drier than the Sahara Desert, which gets around 3 inches (76 mm) annually!
🔹 Despite being covered in ice, Antarctica is classified as a polar desert.
🔹 It spans a massive 5.5 million square miles (14.2 million km²)—making it the largest desert on Earth.
📌 So next time you think of a desert, remember:
It’s not about sand—it’s about dryness. And Antarctica is the driest of them all.

Mind-Blowing Hippo Facts! 🦛
Think hippos can swim? Despite spending most of their lives in water, hippos can’t actually swim — at least not in the traditional sense. Their bones are so dense and heavy that they don’t float easily.
Instead of paddling, they move by galloping underwater — literally pushing off the riverbed in a slow-motion trot. It’s like an underwater moonwalk! 🌊🕺
But it gets even cooler:
🔹 Hippos can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes.
🔹 When they sleep underwater, a built-in reflex lets them automatically surface for air every few minutes — and they don’t even wake up while doing it!
🔹 Their ears, eyes, and nostrils are located on top of their heads, so they can see and breathe while mostly submerged — like natural submarines.
🔹 And despite their bulky size, hippos can run faster than humans on land — up to 30 km/h (19 mph)!
Hippos might look cute, but they’re also one of the most dangerous animals in Africa — highly territorial and surprisingly fast.

🌩 View of Toledo by El Greco (c. 1596–1600)
📍Oil on canvas | Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
A rare example of landscape painting in Spanish Renaissance art, View of Toledo is dramatic, mystical, and emotionally charged. El Greco doesn’t just paint a city—he transforms Toledo into a spiritual vision, perched beneath a stormy sky with unnaturally vibrant greens and ghostly shadows.
Unlike realistic landscapes of the time, El Greco captures the soul of Toledo—elevated, foreboding, and divine. It’s not just a place—it’s a revelation.
🧠 Did you know? Some believe El Greco rearranged the city’s layout in this painting to reflect a spiritual truth rather than physical accuracy.
