Learning of the gun registration program starting on the 18th, I decided to purchase a new firearm. I went online 2 nights ago and purchased a .22 long rifle from a gun dealer. I paid and then got an email that I needed to call the Chief firearm office to speak to a representative. I called and waited on hold for 45 minutes. Got through finally and was transferred to the CFO for Ontario. Got put on hold for another 20 minutes and then had a message state that they have no one available. It hangs up automatically. Called today and was on hold for 1:15 minutes. Finally spoke to them and the lady had no idea what the difference is between a non restricted and restricted. Asked me for the transfer reference number?? I educated her and was put on hold again for her to verify with her co-worker. Then she mentioned that there are only her and one other lady that take these calls. That’s right 2 government workers 8:30- 4:30pm process transfers.... one is clearly not trained and I hope the other is competent. It’s gun show season and imagine the impact... If you’re going to trade, sell, or buy a gun.... do it now or face the reality of the intentionally broken system. What a disgrace Canada has become....
