On the occasion of marking 1,000 days since October 7, the Government Press Office (GPO) is pleased to invite you to the first foreign press tour of the new exhibition at the National Center for Commemoration, Heritage, and Intelligence Research (IICC), next Thursday (9 July 2026).
The tour will focus on the events of October 7, presenting intelligence materials, findings, and testimonies gathered in the wake of the Hamas attack.

1,000 Days Since October 7th: President Herzog and the First Lady Meet With Survivors of the Kerem Shalom Massacre and Bereaved Families
President Isaac Herzog and the First Lady Michal Herzog marked 1,000 days since the October 7th massacre by hosting a moving gathering of members of Kibbutz Kerem Shalom, together with the mother of Sergeant Yaron Zohar z"l, who was killed defending the kibbutz. The President and First Lady listened to their personal stories, detailing the challenges they faced during the war, alongside the resilience and courageous choice to rebuild the kibbutz and return home. The bereaved families described their daily struggle with grief and the memorial at the kibbutz that gives them the strength to choose life and hope anew each day.
Since October 7th, 2023, the President and First Lady have maintained close ties with the Kerem Shalom community, accompanying them from the days of their evacuation to Eilat, through their relocation to temporary housing in Ashalim, to the rebuilding of the kibbutz and their return home.
President Isaac Herzog:
“The thousandth day since October 7th is not merely a marker in time. It is a reminder of Israel's capacity to grow out of crisis and unbearable pain: to remember, and never to forget. To rise with an overwhelming will to build, to live, to act, and never to give up. This is the story of Israeli resilience. Our enemy made no distinction among us. He came to destroy us all. Our answer, and our true victory, lies in action: in rebuilding and in returning to the kibbutzim. Our answer is in the laughter of children in kindergartens filling the communities of the South and North once again. We will continue to plant, to build, to nurture life, and to choose hope. And so our answer is one and the same: to keep planting, building, nurturing life, and choosing hope.”
First Lady Michal Herzog:
“You reflect the entire Israeli story: the greatest pain imaginable, but also the strength of spirit, the love for community, the capacity to keep nurturing life, and the choice to rise, rebuild, and believe again. We have walked with you since the earliest days after the tragedy, when you were evacuated to Eilat, and then to Ashalim. We were there when the tree was replanted back home in Kerem Shalom, and that is the spirit that leads you. Every time we meet you, we leave strengthened. You give all of us hope.”

On July 2, 2026, President Isaac Herzog spoke at a ceremony for the first cohort of imams who completed a training program to address violence and crime in Arab society.
This initiative of the Department for Religious Communities in the Ministry of Interior and the Unit for the Advancement of Teaching Staff at the Open University provides religious leaders with practical tools to strengthen community resilience, prevention efforts, and cooperation with local authorities and law enforcement.
President Isaac Herzog:
“You are completing your training at a moment of genuine emergency. This is a national, Israeli, social, moral, security, and economic crisis. And in this state of emergency, we are called to a shared struggle, as this gathering reflects — a struggle built on shared responsibility, leadership, and practical action on the ground.
“The reality in Arab towns has become unbearable: shootings, murders, threats, extortion, and constant fear. There are 140 victims since the start of 2026. This is a terrible routine of life that we must never accept, under any circumstances. Violence is not a decree of fate. It is not a force of nature beyond our influence.
“The State of Israel has the responsibility and the duty to provide equal personal security to all its citizens, regardless of religion, nationality, or place of residence. And to anyone who deludes themselves otherwise, this week we saw this horrific crime seep into the heart of even the largest towns in Israel.
“The Shin Bet must be brought into this battle without any reservation, and appropriate legislation must be advanced quickly.“

Ahead of America’s historic 250th Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, President Isaac Herzog visited U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem to deliver a message of congratulations to President Donald J. Trump and the American people.
Upon delivering his letter of congratulations to Ambassador Huckabee, President Herzog said: “I am extremely moved and happy to be here at the American Embassy in Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Israel, at the Embassy which was launched by President Trump in his historic recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The Government, today (Sunday, 5 July 2026), has approved the proposal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to appoint Col. (Res.) Ofir Levi as Deputy Director of the National Security Council (NSC), following the recommendation of NSC Director Shmuel Ben Ezra. Levi will assume the role, succeeding Gil Reich, who has concluded his term.
The appointment is for a period of 5 years and may be extended for additional periods, provided that the total duration of the appointment does not exceed ten years.
Col. (Res.) Ofir Levi has an extensive military and security background, which includes several senior positions, among them: Head of Doctrine for the Armored Corps, Commander of the 679th Reserve Brigade, and Deputy Commander of the 210th ‘Bashan’ Regional Division (Golan Heights). He has also served as a border defense consultant for Rafael.
Levi holds a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences with a focus on Organizational Consulting from Ariel University, and a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Haifa.
