🤔 Have you ever wondered why Bluetooth is called Bluetooth?
We've been using this more than two-decades-old tech to connect our wireless devices, and more recently, as a key component in TraceTogether.
While the tech itself has evolved over the years, two things remain true:
1️⃣ It's still about short-range transmission
2️⃣ It uses a low amount of power

🤔 Have you ever heard of the term "hostile tech"?
According to ThoughtWorks, hostile tech can occur not only in criminal tech (such as malware and hacking tools), but also in advertising and customer targeting.
The idea of hostile tech can be a matter of perspective. It could be an unintended consequence as technology grows more complex and fails to consider stakeholders outside the intended user group.
Here are 4 considerations suggested by ThoughtWorks to reduce unintentional tech hostility:
1️⃣ Be mindful of user representation during your test group
2️⃣ Check for biases in the data sets used to power data-driven services
3️⃣ Design with equality and ease-of-use in mind
4️⃣ Consider other factors that might be affected by your product, e.g. environmental or sociological factors
