The Singapore government takes a zero-tolerance stance towards the use of deepfake or cheap fake technology for extortion or harassment purposes.
You are advised to adopt the following crime prevention measures should you encounter such a scam:
1️⃣ Remain calm and ignore any instructions to initiate contact or make money or cryptocurrency transfers.
2️⃣ Retain evidence and report the matter to the Singapore Police Force
What you can do to protect your digital identity better:
1️⃣ Stay vigilant and cautious about sharing personal images and details online.
2️⃣ Strengthen your social media and online account privacy and security settings.
3️⃣ Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices
