Android 15 Beta 2: Saving the App Pairs.

When you open two apps in split-screen mode, there's a new 'save app pair' button in the recent apps overview. When you tap it, a shortcut consisting of icons of two apps will appear on the home screen so that you can open the selected pair later.

Android 15 Beta 2: Improvements to widget previews in the widget list.

Before Android 15, the only way to provide widget picker previews was to specify a static image or layout resource. These previews often differ significantly from the look of the actual widget when it is placed on the home screen.

Also, static resources can't be created with Jetpack Glance, so a Glance developer had to screenshot their widget or create an XML layout to have a widget preview.

Android 15 adds support for generated previews. This means that app widget providers can generate RemoteViews to use as the picker preview, instead of a static resource.

Android 15 Beta 2: Automatically turn on Bluetooth the next day.

In the Quick Settings tile menu and on the Bluetooth settings page, there's a new switch "Automatically turn on again tomorrow". I think it's pretty clear here.

🤖 Google is rolling out Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.2 with several bugfixes (June release).

A stable version of the June quarterly update is expected in about 1.5 weeks.

List of fixes:
• Fixed issues that sometimes caused mobile data connections to drop, even when the device was receiving a strong cellular signal.
• Fixed various other issues that were impacting system stability and connectivity.

Android 15 Beta 2.2 with additional bug fixes is out.

Google globally rolls out new weather icons for Weather and 'At a glance' widgets.

They now match those used in the redesigned Google Weather page. These icons were previously tested on a small range of users in February, and are now available for all users globally.

🤖 Google has released the June Pixel Feature Drop based on the stable Android 14 QPR3.

The third quarterly release, Android 14 QPR3, has been in testing since February this year and includes a number of new features and fixes on the system side. Pixel Feature Drop brings new features on the app side and does not necessarily require a system update.

The Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a can now output to an external display over the wire.

When you connect a display to your device via the Type-C port, you'll have the ability to mirror your screen to an external screen. The feature is part of the June system update. (Android 14 QPR3).

* A specialized USB-C to USB-C cable with screen output capability or a USB-C to HDMI adapter is required
* On older generations of Pixel, this is not available at the hardware level due to lack of DisplayPort Alternate mode support

Gemini Nano expands to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a.

Gemini Nano was previously exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro, but with June's Pixel Feature Drop, the lightweight AI model is now available on the Pixel 8 and 8a. To enable it, you need to activate the developer options in system settings, and under Settings / System / Developer options / Android AI Core enable the "Enable on-device GenAI Features" toggle.

This feature is rolling out via an update of the Android AI Core app update.
