Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 is out!

Beta builds are available for Pixel 5a and newer.

Fixed Issues:

• Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Settings app to crash when a user accessed system Bluetooth settings after pairing a device.
• Fixed an issue on some devices where the scrolling animation sometimes stuttered or paused.
• Fixed various issues that were impacting system stability and performance.

Known issues (don't need to report):

• In some cases after swapping SIM cards on a device, the device can't connect to cellular service.
• The battery level in the status bar sometimes displays as 0% temporarily.

Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2: New 'Software Updates' page.

The Settings / System / System Updates section has been renamed to Software Updates. The new page now incorporates System Updates (Android security patches), Google Play System Updates and App Updates, tapping on which redirects to the updates page on Google Play.

Mishaal Rahman was the first to discover work on this feature in the first beta version.

Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 brings the "Weather" app from the Pixel 8 (package name com.google.android.apps.weather), enabling weather info to be shown in the Google Clock app and "World" clock widget!

This is available on the Pixel 5a and later.

Google is preparing to add a "Pixel Troubleshooting" app (package name com.google.android.apps.diagnosticstool, stored at /product/priv-app/DiagnosticsToolPrebuilt) that'll help users troubleshoot battery/network issues.

Here's a better look at the new "battery diagnostics" page under Settings > Battery on Pixel. This page is provided by the new "Pixel Troubleshooting" app.

Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 prepares to let you sync app permissions between your phone and connected Bluetooth device, provided the Bluetooth device was connected using the Companion Device Manager (CDM) API and runs Android.

You'll find this under Bluetooth detail settings. I believe CDM permission sync requires the companion device be running Android 13, hence it'll likely work with Wear OS 4 devices like the Pixel Watch 2, Galaxy Watch 4 series and later, and later this year the Pixel Watch.

Here's a first look at Android's upcoming "sync permissions" feature, which will let you sync app permissions between your phone and your connected Wear OS smartwatch!

This doesn't currently work. I had to manually surface it the toggle (thanks to Nail Sadykov for testing it!)

Pixel's At a glance widget now shows you the weather for tomorrow.

In the evenings, you'll be told the temperature range for tomorrow, as well as what weather conditions to expect. Tapping on the widget opens up the weather interface with tomorrow's page already open. Apparently, Google has just started rolling out the new feature.

A year ago, the widget gained a similar feature, displaying the same information for the current day from 7 am to 10 am.
