GoCrypto Celebrates as Ljubljana Ranked Europe’s Most Crypto-Friendly City

The adoption of crypto assets among individuals and businesses has been rapidly spreading over the last few years. It’s no longer uncommon to treat yourself to a delicious meal or buy yourself a new pair of sneakers and pay for it in crypto. The blockchain-based payment technology has come incredibly far and its simplicity is amazing. This increasing real-life usage of crypto has brought the new-age payment option one step closer to the mainstream.

The well-known aviation company, Fast Private Jet, recently published an interesting study of the world’s best crypto-friendly cities. Surprisingly, the highest-ranked crypto-friendly destinations were mainly in Europe, with the top spot of the most crypto-friendly city on the continent going to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

Whales

Continuing with our Crypto Vocabulary section this time we’d like to talk to you about “whales” in the industry.

The term “whale” is used to describe someone (an individual or an organization) who holds a large amount (over $1 million worth) of crypto. The actual quantity of cryptocurrency whales own is usually enough to affect the market. That’s why crypto whales were named after the sea mammal because of their giant size (in comparison to other sea creatures).

To arrange price movements (which can bring about benefits) they often work together. One such price movement is called pump and dump.
The whales buy a sufficiently large number of coins and tokens, confidently increasing their price. The price continues to rise (pump) due to the influx of new investments, they quickly sell their position, which leads to a price reduction (dump).

Kraken Becomes First Global Crypto Exchange Fully Licensed by Abu Dhabi Global Market

The Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) on Monday announced that cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has become “the first global virtual assets exchange group in the UAE to receive a full financial license from ADGM.”

Abu Dhabi Global Market is an international financial center and free zone in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the largest regulated jurisdiction of virtual asset activities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The regulator explained:
“Kraken is the first global cryptocurrency exchange to receive a Financial Services Permission (FSP) license to operate a regulated virtual asset exchange platform in the ADGM to service the needs of the Middle East and North Africa region.”
