Setaweet Team is pleased to host a sneak peek of our forthcoming Alegnta App!
This informal event will serve as an introduction to the Alegnta mobile application which will greatly impact the incident reporting and geo-location of gender-based violence in Addis Ababa. The app will officially launch in May 2023 with the kind support of UNWomen and other partners but this event is a sneak peek following this year's theme for International Women's Day 'DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality'.
During the event, Setaweet shall give a brief introduction to the app, followed by a short Q&A session led by the project manager Tsion Engedaye and Zelalem from Opian Tech (the creative team developing the app). The programme shall be attended by invited donor organizations, selected first adopters of the app, and members of the media.

Opera Village Africa is the official partner of the European Capital of Culture 2024: Bad Ischl Salzkammergut (Austria) and part of the interdisciplinary project DECONFINING. For this collaboration, they are looking for an African artist from the field of visual arts for a 6- to 8-week artist residency at the Opera Village in Burkina Faso between October 2023 and January 2024.

Cologne-based author Navid Kermani will read from "Wonder Beyond Belief: On Christianity" and talk about his work and his travels.

Kermani is one of Germany's most influential intellectuals and has been awarded, among other prizes, the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, the most important literary award in the German-speaking world.

Das Goethe-Institut Äthiopien organisiert im Sommer 2023 zwei Intensivkurse der Niveaustufen A1 & A2 für die PASCH-Schüler/innen in Addis Abeba. Die Kurse finden vom 10. Juli bis 04. August 2023 (A1) und von 07. August bis 31. August 2023 (A2) von Montag bis Freitag mit täglich 5 Unterrichtseinheiten und zwei kreativen Nachmittagen am Goethe-Institut in Addis Abeba statt. Die Lehrkräfte werden auch im Rahmen eines Hospitationsprogramms Nachwuchs Lehrkräfte ausbilden.

The Goethe-Institut is hosting a public talk with Artist Bekele Mekonnen today, 19 April between 4:30 PM – 6 PM. The program is organized by the well acclaimed artist, assistant professor and director Gebre Kristos Desta Center (Modern Art Museum) Bekele Mekonnen. The programme today will focus on his latest visual arts presentation titled ‘GLUTEN FREE-DOM’.

Artist Bekele Mekonnen Nigussu is an outstanding member of the Ethiopian cultural sector. Apart from earning an illustrious career as a visual artist, he has decades worth of experience in arts and cultural education. His commitment to education and capacity building has been demonstrated by his work as the Director of the Fine Art and Design department of Addis Ababa University (2009-2011; 2001-2004), the Department Chair of the Sculpture Department at the Addis Ababa University (1997- 1999), and lastly, through his work as the Director of the Gebre Kristos Desta Center (Modern Art Museum) (2008 – 2010; 2021 - present).

Tonight, the Goethe-Institut in Addis Abeba showcases the German film "Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush" starting 6 pm in the evening as part of its contribution to the 17th Addis International Film Festival. "Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush" is an award-winning German drama film inspired by true events.

🎬 A 30 minute long short film selected by Addis International Film Festival titled “Home Again” will be screened at 5pm in the afternoon, an hour before "Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush”.
