Status: Won't Fix (Intended Behavior)
Based on Android Messages' current design, where we show edge-to-edge display and floating search bar (the search bar will be hidden when you scroll up), we have to make status bar not fully transparent. Thus, it may take non-trivial effort to make it work as suggested in this bug (status bar transparent when navigation drawer is open). Given that this issue is pretty trivial, we decided to close it for now, but I'll put it in our backlog, in case we need to re-visit it once we have more cycles.
