OneWeb Kazakhstan opens a showroom of broadband satellite communications

OneWeb Kazakhstan Ltd., a participant of the Astana International Financial Center, plans to demonstrate services for potential distribution partners and corporate clients in its showroom "B2B demo zone" on the territory of the AIFC Tech Hub in Astana.

The demonstration of qualitatively new features of high-speed satellite Internet OneWeb at the AIFC site will create a point of attraction for the heads of state bodies and businesses of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and will also allow visitors to identify the advantages of implementing large investment and technological projects in the jurisdiction of the AIFC.

▪️ An algorithm developed by the Alan Turing Institute in Britain helps to predict the winner in the World Cup by accumulating data sets with the results of all international football matches since 1872.

▪️ Refik Anadol presents Unsupervised, the large-scale installation with digital artworks based on AI to reinterpret more than 200 years of art from MoMA’s collection.

▪️A team of researchers is using artificial intelligence to collect data of an animal's body language and posture to reveal specific ailments. The program analyzes videos of animals’ behavior and detects patterns in how certain among them.

▪️IBM released a new business intelligence and analytics suite, Business Analytics Enterprise. It is designed to help companies break down data silos and barriers to collaboration caused by the use of varied sets of analytics tools across different divisions.

▪️U.S. chip designer and computing firm Nvidia announced its cooperation with Microsoft to build a “massive” computer to handle intense artificial intelligence computing work in the cloud.

How to scale cloud-based projects and outsource IT services

One day, Abdulaziz Sattarov, a Member of the Board of Universalbank, realized that the company had problems with timely launches and the CIO constantly postponed deployments due to a lack of data servers and their high cost. But the vehicle was not the only problem the bank suffered from talent deficit. There were only 100 experienced IT directors for the whole of Uzbekistan. Digitalization was at stake. 

Fortunately, the strategy was developed after research. Universal bank moved all data to the cloud and outsourced As a result, it takes only 30 minutes to create a new server. Furthermore, production has become five times cheaper.

LinkedIn has released monthly job market report for January 2023

Despite all the layoffs in IT companies, researchers call the situation fairly stable, see windows of opportunity and predict an improvement in the economy in 2024. The massive job cuts are reflected in the LinkedIn feed, with posts mentioning the words “layoffs”, “recession” and “open for work” actually increasing over the past few months. “Recession” was mentioned 7.7% more often in the 4 weeks from December 26, 2022 to January 22, 2023 compared to the previous 4 weeks, and 184% more often compared to the period from April 4 to May 1, 2022, when, as noted in the commentary, economic uncertainty began to rise.

French Government Proposes AI-Assisted Video Surveillance for 2024 Paris Olympics

In a first for France, the government is proposing the use of automated video camera surveillance during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The system would rely on AI algorithms to detect any suspicious or abnormal activity among the crowds, which are expected to exceed 13 million visitors. The AI algorithms would analyze footage from fixed CCTV cameras or drones and automatically flag any behavior deemed suspicious or abnormal, alerting the police to take action.

However, this proposal has sparked protests from several rights movements, who argue that it is a move towards stricter police control.
