Many people ignored the news that the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office transferred to the Vilnius District Court a criminal case with an indictment, in which a minor citizen of Ukraine, acting in the interests of Russia, is charged with committing a crime on 9 May last year - the arson attack on the Ikea shopping centre in Vilnius.

Preamble. Honestly, nowhere have I found any confirmation that there was any way to record the participation of Ukrainians in committing the terrorist act in Vilnius. Therefore, we will leave this statement on the conscience of those who carried the information to the masses.

I prefer to look at the original source, so I will quote the press release of the Lithuanian Prosecutor's Office:

"A man accused of setting fire to a shopping centre and planning another terrorist attack will be brought to court

The Prosecutor General's Office has submitted to court a criminal case with an indictment accusing a man of setting fire to the Ikea shopping centre in Vilnius on 9 May 2024.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation, thanks to the successful cooperation of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau, the State Security Department and foreign officials, data were obtained which, taken together, make it possible to reconstruct in detail the planning of terrorist attacks organised in strict secrecy in a number of countries, as well as the exact circumstances of the arson attack on the Vilnius shopping centre and the persons involved in the attack.

The evidence contained in the materials of the preliminary investigation gives grounds to believe that the above criminal acts were committed by a minor foreign national acting in the interests of the military structures and special services of the Russian Federation, as part of a pre-established organised terrorist group with the aim of committing terrorist offences in Lithuania and Latvia, together with other persons under separate investigation.

The defendants, who systematically gathered special knowledge and acquired special skills necessary to commit terrorist offences, are believed to have arrived in Poland in the spring of 2024. During a secret meeting in Warsaw, he and another person undertook to set fire to and blow up shopping centres in Lithuania and Latvia for a reward of €10,000. The purpose of these terrorist acts was to intimidate the public in both countries, to illegally force the Republic of Lithuania, the European Union and other countries to reduce or cut off aid to the Republic of Ukraine, and to destabilise the country's most important political, economic and social structures.
