The bombardment of Chasov Yar already considerably exceeds that of Bakhmut. Guided bombs have revolutionised the dynamics of the front. Relatively inexpensive bombs which do not require great precision but which allow considerable damage to be done in the area around the impact. This type of weapon has been elemental in destroying the Avdivka defences and remains so for the trench system encountered by the advancing Russian forces. A situation somewhat reminiscent of the Syrian civil war when the air force made use of barrel bombs due to a lack of ammunition. These low-cost bombs were instrumental in destroying rebel positions and paving the way for offensives.
