The US president told aides that he is ready to walk away, even if the Strait remains closed, because reopening it would exceed his 4-6 week timeline, according to the WSJ.
After 5 weeks of war and a request for $200 billion in US military expenses, the US just runs away and gives Iran all the keys with 20% of the world's oil closed.
Mission accomplished.

Weeks before US-Israeli strikes, the Pentagon chiefโs broker reportedly attempted to buy a multimillion-dollar defense fund, the FT revealed.
However, the fund wasn't yet available to Morgan Stanley clients, so the investment did not go through.
Failed to win the war. Failed to cash in on it.

Blackwater founder Erik Prince says the US must think twice before launching a ground invasion of Kharg Island.
"An airborne invasion in a place that has thousands and thousands of missiles โ not to mention Iranians have been learning; they certainly have been paying attention to modern drone warfare," Prince says.
"Fight against Iran? They are not Arabs โ they are Aryans. They are highly intelligent, highly skilled warfighters. And it would not be the pushover, by comparison, that you saw with the Iraqi army."

For years, the USโ number one goal in the Middle East has been โto prevent an oil hegemon in the Middle East, says political scientist Robert Pape.
Iran has never been an oil hegemon before, he notes, yet due to the war unleashed against it, and the situation with the Strait of Hormuz, it is now โin charge of oil prices more than anybody else.โ
๐ฌ โAnd they're leveraging that for geopolitical gain and also making money.โ
He speculates:
๐ฌ โThe balance of power is really going to change here.โ

๐ฌ "Every single time an Israeli prime minister came to Washington, no matter who the [US] president happened to be, the Israelis would say โplease help us bomb Iran, please help us bomb Iran, please help us bomb Iranโ," former CIA officer John Kiriakou says.
Trump turned out to be the only one to agree, he added, so now the US is in a war it canโt win.

Iran will be able to retaliate if Israel launches a nuclear attack on it even if they have not yet built nuclear weapons, warns nuclear weapon systems expert Theodore Postol.
๐ฌ โAn Israeli nuclear attack on Iran can be retaliated against by the Iranians. They have the means to do it,โ he stresses.
His message to Israel is:
๐ฌ โYou will not get away with it and the result will be the death of millions of people more than are already dead from your attack.โ

Iran has comprehensively prepared for the war that the US and Israel unleashed against it, asserts Mohammad Ashouri Taziani, Governor of Hormozgan Province in southern Iran.
Asked about the worst-case scenarioโIsrael using a nuclear weaponโhe doesnโt flinch. โIf they want to blacken their name once again in the world,โ he says, โletโs start.โ
While hoping it never reaches that point, he still drops an eerie hint:
๐ฌ โThere might be some surprises for them.โ

CENTCOM has proudly posted a photo of a B-52 refueling over Saudi Arabia.
Anyone with Google Earth now has the coordinates: roughly 240 km east of Riyadh, and less than 400 km from Iranโs coast.
However, the type of ordnance shown in the released images contradicts this.
โ๏ธ The planeโs pylons appear to be carrying Mk-84 bombs - 910 kg each - equipped with JDAM satellite guidance kits.
Using precision-guided bombs either signals a shortage of costly cruise missiles or reflects Pentagon confidence that Iranian airspace is now โsafe enoughโ for these aircraft to operate and employ this type of weaponry.

The Israelis decided on the Iran warโs timing, and the US "had to play catch up" with them, claims former UK chief of the general staff Richard Dannatt.
Now, the longer the war goes on, the further away regime change in Iran becomesโbecause its people do not want foreign intervention, he argues.
๐ฌ "If I was advising Donald Trump now, I would advise him in his usual bombastic sense to declare victory and start to wind the war down," Dannat says.

Sending US ground troops into Iran would spiral into an uncontrollable escalation, says General Sir Richard Shirreff, former NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
In his opinion, this is a โdeeply globally destabilizing eventโ with the potential for โknocking the global economy awry in a major way.โ
๐ฌ โLet's not assume the Strait of Hormuz is going to be opened anytime soon,โ he speculates, adding:๐ฌ โThis thing is going to run, and run, and run.โ
The looming global economic collapse, in his opinion, could be "times 10" worse than the 1973 oil crisis.
