⚡️The man who shot Fico turned out to be a native of the Slovak city of Levice, reports TV Joj. The police are now looking into his motives.

Hungarian PM Victor Orban commented on the Fico's assassination attempt:

"I was deeply shocked by the heinous attack against my friend, Prime Minister Robert Fico. We pray for his health and quick recovery! God bless him and his country!"

❗️ Fico’s life is no longer in danger after the assassination attempt, the newspaper Dennikn reports, citing sources.

According to the sources, he suffered injuries to the abdomen and apparently to the arms and legs. He is currently being taken to hospital in Banska Bystrica.

❗️The Slovak Prime Minister was conscious when he was taken to hospital, his vital functions were stabilized, the medical facility said

A post was published on Fico's official Facebook account saying:

"An attempt to assassinate R. Fico was made today. He has been shot multiple times and is currently in life-threatening condition. At this moment he is transported by helicopter to Banská Bystrica, because it would take too long to get to Bratislava due to the necessity of an acute procedure. The next few hours will decide."

❗️ A 71-year-old man shot at the prime minister of Slovakia, the JoJ TV channel reported.

The detainee in the case of the attempted assassination of Slovakia's prime minister turned out to be the author of a poetry collection and a former employee of a private security company.

In 2016, he himself survived an assassination attempt when he was attacked in a shopping center in the town of Levice by a young man who was in an inebriated state, Aktuality writes.

The suspect in the attempted assassination of Fiсo is in custody, his case is being handled by the National Criminal Agency of Slovakia.

Slovak PM attempted assassination: what is known so far

▪️ The assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico took place after an off-site cabinet meeting in the Slovak town of Gandlova, 190 kilometers from the country's capital Bratislava;

▪️ Fico was wounded in the chest and abdomen, his condition is assessed as serious;

▪️ The PM is taken to the hospital by helicopter;
