Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs have expressed confidence that the continuity of Tehran’s foreign policy will be preserved, including with regard to the SCO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters following the meeting.
"Of course, the mood was dampened by the tragic news of the crash of the helicopter carrying President Raeisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian and other senior officials of the administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran from Azerbaijan, to the border between Azerbaijan and Iran. All of us, both at the meeting with President Tokayev this morning and at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, expressed our sincere condolences and solidarity with the Iranian people and our confidence that the continuity of Iran's foreign policy will be maintained, including with regard to active participation in the Shanghai Co-operation Organization." China kicks off two days of military exercises near Taiwan
Xinhua News reported the PLA began the drills early Thursday morning in the Taiwan Strait - north, south, and east of Taiwan including around the Kinmen, Matsu, Wuqiu, and Dongyin islands.
The joint exercises include the army, navy, air force, and rocket forces, and are a “strong punishment for the separatist acts of ‘Taiwan independence’ forces,” Chinese military spokesman Colonel Li Xi said.
The drills come just days after William Lai Ching-te took his oath as president of the island.
Xinhua News reported the PLA began the drills early Thursday morning in the Taiwan Strait - north, south, and east of Taiwan including around the Kinmen, Matsu, Wuqiu, and Dongyin islands.

❗️Georgia Prime Minister says 'threatened' by EU official over ‘foreign agents’ law, Robert Fico shooting mentioned
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said he was “blackmailed” during a phone call with a European commissioner, adding that recent shooting of Slovakia’s Robert Fico was specifically mentioned.
According to Kobakhidze, during the conversation, the unnamed EU official was listing potential measures the West could hurt Georgia with over the potential adoption of the “Foreign Influence Transparency Law,” also known as the “foreign agents” law. At one point during the call, the shooting of Robert Fico was brought up: “You see what happened to Fico, and you should be very careful,” the commissioner allegedly said.
“For the purpose of prevention, I considered myself obliged to provide information about this threat to the Georgian society,” Kobakhidze said in a statement, shared by the government on Facebook.
The controversial “foreign agents” law would essentially require organizations that accept funds from abroad to register as foreign agents or face fines. The bill has been heavily criticized by the EU and the United States.
