Dear Customers,
Some of you who operate BATM servers noticed tonight that your servers got shut down with a message “DBUpdateService.updateCurrencyPairs.XXX.XXX wasn't updated for a very long time. Shutting down the server. diff = 60 hours 0 minutes”.
When batm server doesn’t successfully download exchange rate between fiat currencies (i.e. USD vs CAD) after multiple attempts in 60 hours it will preemptively shut down to prevent selling coins for inaccurate prices.
Issue was caused by our central server that is publishing fiat currency conversion rates to BATM servers. Our server uses a 3rd party service currencylayer.com to obtain fiat currency conversion rates that wasn’t accessible due to inaccessibility of our ISPs DNS servers. Why our ISP’s DNS server became inaccessible is still unknown, we are waiting for an answer from our ISP.
Our central server is also running other services that do not rely on DNS resolution therefore our monitoring system didn’t notice the issue.
Next steps:
We already set different DNS providers on our central server and fiat conversion rates are now distributed to BATM servers correctly.
In the next 24hours we will add monitoring of fiat conversion rates into our monitoring system.
And in the upcoming server versions we will add the option for operators to use currencylayer.com paid service directly from their servers without dependency on our central server.

Dear Customers,
We have been informed by one of our ATM operators that his funds at Coinbase wallet are being frozen by Coinbase for upcoming 2 months after his ATM server used wallet to send coins to an end customer's bitcoin address that was later classified by Coinbase as "is one that Coinbase cannot facilitate transactions for security reasons".
Based on this experience we feel that it is important to inform you that such case can happen also to other ATM operators in future. There cannot exist a tool that can guarantee that Coinbase will not later in time classify operator's transactions as a security risk.
