Q: Where’d you get all this knowledge?

Imam Shafi’i:

By not relying on anyone [except Allaah].
By wandering the countries [i.e. travelling].
By exercising patience the way a camel is patient.
By being [awake in the] early morning like a raven.

Q: The Angels don’t enter a house where there’s a picture (of anything with a soul); is this regarding the whole house?

Basis of this question: Saheeh Bukhari #3226

Shaikh Ibn ‘Uthaimeen: The Angels not entering is specific to the place where the picture is, that’s it. Therefore, this doesn’t mean the entire house.

Ibn al-Qayyim

“Ostentation, however little, annuls good deeds and (enters by any one of) countless doors. An action incompatible with the observance of the Sunnah is another thing that renders them vain.

Boasting in one's heart to God of some good act done, spoils it. Flaunting one's charity, virtue, generosity, personal virtue or liberality towards one's family, ruins these deeds, as Allāh
has said:

'O you who believe, do not render your almsgiving vain by reminders of your generosity or by injury.'

Ibn al Jawzi رحمه الله said,

I pondered upon Shaybaan ar Rai's saying to Sufyaan:

"Consider O Sufyaan, Allah not giving you something, to be a form of granting you something.

Verily Allah did not prevent you out of miserliness; He did so out of love for you."

Umar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ‎صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

"If you were to rely upon Allah with reliance due to Him, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds.

They go out in the morning with empty stomachs and return full."

O brothers, whoever has been tested with disobedience, submit yourself in front of Allah in the last part of the night

[and say]

"Ya Rabb, have mercy on me and you know my affair best! Ya Rabb, I've been tested with this sickness! Ya Rabb, make it hated to me. O Allah distance me from it, just as You distanced the east and west."

Turning to Him truthfully is from the most tremendous means of rectifying this condition!

Pray during the night. The arrows of the night don't miss! Throw yourself in front of Allah in prostration.

Allah is the All-Hearing and the One Who Responds. The One Who is Near His slaves. He doesn't reject the truthful. And He is shy not to answer the truthful slave's dua.

So return, return to Allah.

How to do the Legislated Ruqya - Sheikh Ibn Baz

Question: Esteemed Sheikh, this Questioner says: How to do Ruqya with Dua, O Esteemed Sheikh, and What are the duas that should be said?

Answer: He dry spits on the sick person on the place of illness and supplicates for him; he dry spits from his saliva upon him and recites Surah Al-Fatiha repeating it seven times,

he recites Ayatul Kursi, and whatever is convenient from the Qur'ān.

He also recites Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah Al-Ikhlas) and the Muawidatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas) thrice; This is the Ruqya and he dry spits along with it.

Also, he makes dua: "Allāhumma adh'hibi al-Ba'sa Rabb an-Nās, Wa-shfi anta ash-Shāfī, la shifā' illa shifā'uk, Shifā'an la yugādiru sakama" (O Allah, remove the trouble, the Rabb (Lord) of mankind! Heal, You are the Healer, there is no cure except Your cure, a cure that leaves no disease behind), like the Prophet ﷺ did.

And he says: "Bismillāhi arqīk, min kulli shayyin yu'thīk, wa min sharri kulli nafsin aw aynin hasidin, Allāhu yashfīk, bismillāhi arqīk" (By the Name of Allah, I make Ruqya upon you from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul, or the envying eye, May Allah heal you, by the Name of Allah, I make Ruqya upon you.)

This is how Jibrāʾīl made Ruqya upon the Prophet ﷺ, as the Prophet ﷺ reported it. So, all of this is good.

A man was with Yaḥya bin Muadh رحمه الله and recited in his presence the ayaah: "And speak to him (Firawn) with gentle speech." [Surah Ṭaḥa, 44]

Yaḥya began to weep. He then said.

“My Lord, if this is Your mercy and gentleness with the one who says, ‘I am your God’ (i.e Fir'awn claimed lordship for himself), then how will it be with the one who says that You are God?

Shaykh Muhammad Bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen رحمه الله تبارك وتعالى said:

Marrying more than one wife is more needed in this time than before due to the abundance of women, trials and tribulations and the need of women of the one who will guard their chastity. Indeed, many from the scholars hold the opinion that polygamy is better than marrying just one wife."

[Sharh Hilya At-Talib Al-Īlm Page 315].

Abd Allah Ibn Umar رضي الله عنه said: “The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from knowledge that was not beneficial, supplication that was not answered, a heart that did not fear Allah and a soul that was never satisfied."

If You Want Your Prayer To Benefit You

It is reported that Bakr b. ʿAbdillāh Al-Muzanī – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

If you want your ṣalāh to benefit you, say (to yourself): perhaps I will never pray another (my life will end before the next prayer).
