Ibn Sireen رحمه الله said,

If Allah wants good for a servant, he makes in his heart a preacher (a warner); commanding him to do the right and forbidding him from the wrong.“

[Kitab az Zuhd of Imam Ahmad رحمه الله , pg. 247, no. 1768]
Moving from sin to sin and still you hope for a rank in Paradise and the success like that of a devoted worshiper.

But you forgot that Allah expelled Adam from there to the dunya for a single sin.

So the remembrance of Allah is relief after hardship and ease after difficulty and comfort after sorrow, grief and worry.

And it is the joy of the people of Iman, the comfort of their souls and the tranquility of their hearts.

It is their refuge from every distress and hardship and from every sorrow and concern.

If the heart of the believer is afflicted with a type of distress, worry or sadness, he resorts to the remembrance of Allah.

So the worries of his heart will be lifted. And the clouds of sorrow, pain and grief will disperse.

And Allah will replace it with happiness, relief, comfort and tranquility.

So if it becomes heedless of the remembrance of Allah, worries will continually come to him.

And it will not be removed from his heart until he returns his heart to the remembrance of Allah.

Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadee al-Waadi’ee (rahimahullah) said:

Oh my children, if knowledge could be poured into a glass, I would pour it for you, but it is not obtained except by hard work, exhaustion, and scraping of the knees.”

In Saheeh Muslim it is reported on the authority of Yahya ibn Abi Kathir rahimahullah that he said:

“Knowledge cannot be attained through the relaxation of the body”.
Imam Ahmad was asked:

"What is the distance between us and the 'Arsh?

He replied: "The supplication of a Muslim that is responded by Allāh.

If you had seen the Sahabah, you would’ve said: They’re crazy!

If the Sahabah had seen you, they’d say: They’re not Muslims!

“In reality, every Muslim is in need of a home library, regardless of whether he reads or not. If he reads, then all praise is due to Allah. If he is not a reader, then the readers are many. If a reader visits him, he can request from him to read a book upon him; or perhaps his family will produce a male or female reader from his offspring. So they will benefit [from the books] and benefit others.”

In one of his lessons, shaykh Abd al-Razzaq al-Badr حفظه الله said:

[انت ان قلت ان تجعل القرآن ربيع قلبي ، افتح المصحف واقراه وتدبر وتامل في كلام الله ، واجعل للقرآن حظ من وقتك حتى يكون ربيعا لقلبك. لن يكون القرآن ربيعا لقلب المرء وهو في الرف او يوضع كما في بعض البيوت للزينة . ]

If you ask for the Qur’an to be the spring of your heart, then open up the mushaf and read it. Contemplate and ponder over Allah’s Speech. Make time for the Qur’an in your schedule.

Do that until it becomes the spring of your heart. The Qur’an will never be the spring of someone’s heart while it just sits on a shelf or is used as a decoration as you find in some houses.

Ibn al-Qayyim reported: Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

“The united community is that which adheres to the truth, even if you are alone.”

Nuaym ibn Hammad said, “If the community becomes corrupted, you must adhere to its practice before it became corrupt. Even if you are alone, you by yourself would be the united community.”

Q: Where’d you get all this knowledge?

Imam Shafi’i:

By not relying on anyone [except Allaah].
By wandering the countries [i.e. travelling].
By exercising patience the way a camel is patient.
By being [awake in the] early morning like a raven.

Q: The Angels don’t enter a house where there’s a picture (of anything with a soul); is this regarding the whole house?

Basis of this question: Saheeh Bukhari #3226

Shaikh Ibn ‘Uthaimeen: The Angels not entering is specific to the place where the picture is, that’s it. Therefore, this doesn’t mean the entire house.

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Ostentation, however little, annuls good deeds and (enters by any one of) countless doors. An action incompatible with the observance of the Sunnah is another thing that renders them vain.

Boasting in one's heart to God of some good act done, spoils it. Flaunting one's charity, virtue, generosity, personal virtue or liberality towards one's family, ruins these deeds, as Allāh
has said:

'O you who believe, do not render your almsgiving vain by reminders of your generosity or by injury.'

O brothers, whoever has been tested with disobedience, submit yourself in front of Allah in the last part of the night

[and say]

"Ya Rabb, have mercy on me and you know my affair best! Ya Rabb, I've been tested with this sickness! Ya Rabb, make it hated to me. O Allah distance me from it, just as You distanced the east and west."

Turning to Him truthfully is from the most tremendous means of rectifying this condition!

Pray during the night. The arrows of the night don't miss! Throw yourself in front of Allah in prostration.

Allah is the All-Hearing and the One Who Responds. The One Who is Near His slaves. He doesn't reject the truthful. And He is shy not to answer the truthful slave's dua.

So return, return to Allah.
