رضي اللّه عنه Umar ibn al-Khattab
said:

Whoever exposes himself to suspicion should not blame those who think ill of him. Whoever keeps his secret has control over his own affairs. Assume the best about your brother's actions until you are given clear reason to think otherwise. The best way to repay someone who disobeys Allāh in their treatment of you is to obey Allāh in your treatment of them.

Hold fast to righteous companions seek to increase them, for they are an adornment in times of ease and a support in times of hardship. Do not ask about what has not yet happened until it does, for what has already occurred is enough to keep you occupied.

Do not speak unless your words will be valued by those who hear them and taken as a treasure. Seek help for your needs only from those who genuinely want to see them fulfilled. Consult only those who fear Allāh
Do not keep company with the wicked, lest you learn their corruption. And humble yourself at the graves.

Abu Huraira reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying:

He who attends the funeral till the prayer is offered for (the dead), for him is the reward of one qirat, and he who attends (and stays) till he is buried, for him is the reward of two qirats. It was said: What are the qirats? He said: They are equivalent to two huge mountains.

Two other narrators added: Ibn 'Umar used to pray and then depart (without waiting for the burial of the dead). When the tradition of Abu Huraira reached him, he said:

"We have lost many qirats."

Shaykh, the ʿAllāmah, the Muḥaddith, Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked:
"What is your opinion about those who claim that speaking about Tawḥīd and ʿAqīdah divides the Muslims?"

He replied:
"This statement is made by known groups who have taken up politics as their craft and have belittled the foundation of Islām and Īmān — which is the ʿAqīdah (creed) that all the Prophets (peace be upon them) came with."

Habib al-‘Abid reports:

Once, when I arrived in al-Basrah, I was surprised to see that the markets were closed, and the streets empty.

I called out,

“O people of Basrah, is this some kind of holiday of yours that I am unaware of?”

Someone answered,

“No, but al-Hasan al-Basree is in the main gathering place (of Basrah), giving a khutbah to the people.”

I hurried to his gathering, and when I arrived there, I saw him sitting down on some high ground.

He was saying:

“O people, prepare for departure, for very little time remains from this world.

Prepare to move (to the akhirah), for there is no way to stay here.

Do you not know that you will soon be surrendered to the place of trial?

Do you not know that each one of you will soon be alone with his deeds and that you will be presented (with your deeds) to Allah on the Day of Judgment?

He forbade you from sinning, but you have not stopped sinning.

He (threatened) you with the Hell-Fire, but you are neither afraid nor terrified of it.

He has encouraged you to seek our Jannah, but you do not (seem to) desire it or long for it.

Your white hairs are warning you of approaching death, so what are you waiting for?

O white-haired one, you are able to perform good deeds, so what is your excuse.

O one who obeys his mouth and his desires, who wastes his share of the akhirah by taking his entire share in this world, who persists in committing sins and evil deeds – if only I knew: what your excuse will be before Him.

What argument will you put forth when you go to Him?

You are lost and misguided, so ask Allah, the All-Mighty, to forgive both me and you.”
