Our respected father and sheikh, sheikh sulayman al ruhayli حفظه الله mentioned that one should have the intention of fasting on the Day of Arafah as well as Thursday as was the practise of the prophet ﷺ where he ﷺ mentioned deeds are presented to Allāh on this day and the prophet ﷺ loved for his deeds to be presented whilst he was fasting.

*A Sunnah Very Few Act Upon | A Complete Du'ā After Wuḍū*

From Abū Mūsā al-Ash'arī Raḍi-Allāhu ‘Anhu who said: “I came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ with water for ablution so he performed Wuḍū then I heard him say;

'Allaahummagh Fir Lee Dhanbee Wa Wassi’ Lee Fee Daaree Wa Baarik Lee Fee Rizqee’

(O Allāh forgive me my sins and make spacious for me my residence and bless me in my provision)

So I said: O Prophet of Allāh I heard you supplicating with such and such, he ﷺ said: 'And has it left anything out?’.”

[رواه النسائي في السنن الكبرى ٩٠٠٨ ، وصححه الألباني في صحيح الجامع ١٢٦٥]

al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mubārakpūree Raḥimahullāh said: “'Has it left anything out’ means that it encompasses every goodness of the world and the Hereafter i.e a complete supplication.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about fasting the Day of 'Ashura and he replied:

It expiates (the sins of) the previous year.

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

Our beloved father and Sheikh, Sheikh Rabi al-Madkhali passed away.

May Allāh admit him into His paradise amongst the highest ranks.

The heart pains and the eyes shed tears, yet we stay patient and firm upon that which the Sheikh dedicated his life to, the Qur'an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the salaf.
"Death of a scholar whom people benefit from in matters of the Dunya and Akhirah is more beloved to Shaytan than the death of a thousand worshippers."

- Mentioned by Ibn al-Jawzi in Sifat al-Safwah

Sheikh Sulayman Ar - Ruhayli حفظه الله

Our striving shaykh, the shaykh of virtue, Shaykh Rabi' ibn
Hadi al-Madkhali has passed away,

The 'allamah, sincere in his protective jealousy over the religion of Allah, the
'aqeedah, and the methodology of the Salaf, the exposer of deviant methodologies and the critic of them with knowledge and justice.

And how often I saw him weep out of pain for the religion of Allah. In the last private meeting with his excellency in his house, which gathered me, him, and Shaykh Salih as-Suhaymi, he was advising with patience, not rushing, and good manners.

O Allah, have mercy upon Your servant Rabi' ibn Hadi and forgive him, and make him in bliss in his grave, and place him in al-Firdaus al-A'la of Paradise, accompanying the Prophet se and the prominent figures of the Salaf, and magnify the reward for his family and all of his offspring, and improve their condolence, and our condolence, and the condolence of every Muslim man and woman who loved him for Your sake.
And we do not say except what pleases the Lord, and indeed, at your parting, O shaykh of truthfulness and virtue, we are deeply grieved.
