Summary of the talk on the virtues of the day of ‘Arafah.
Mujahid rahimahu’Allah narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

“If you wish to mention the faults of your companion, then mention your own faults.”

[Al-Zuhd of Imam Ahmad 1063]
Ibn Abbas and Anas ibn Malik may Allah be pleased with them both said:

“Indeed, for a good deed there is a light in the heart, beauty on the face, strength in the body, expansiveness in provision, and love in the hearts of creation. And indeed, for a sin there is darkness in the heart, ugliness on the face, weakness in the body, decrease in provision, and hatred in the hearts of creation.”

[Rawdat al-Muhibbin.]
Imam al-Albanī rahimahu’Allah said :

“We do not know of any authentic hadith showing that the Prophet ﷺ consistently observed any of the regular Sunnah prayers (rawātib) while traveling except for the Sunnah prayer of Fajr and the Witr prayer. And Allah knows best.”

[Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Da’ifah 3/352]
‎Imām Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahu’Allah) said:

‎Abu Qatadah al-Harith ibn Rib‘i al-Ansari al-Khazraji, may Allah be pleased with him, witnessed the Battle of Uhud and what came after it. He used to be called the horseman (cavalier) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

‎He supported the Prophet ﷺ on one of his journeys when he leaned on his riding mount due to sleep. When he awoke, he said to him:

‎“May Allah preserve you as you preserved His Prophet.”

‎He died in the year 54 AH in Medina.

‎[Tanbih al-Afhām Sharh Umdat al-Ahkām 1/45]

Allah makes the deed of the sincere person apparent.

Ibrahim al-Nakha’i (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“If a servant were to conceal his worship as he conceals wickedness, Allah would surely make that apparent from him.”

[Mūsanaf of Ibn Abee Shaibah 20/16]

Sufyān ath-Thawrī raḥimahu’Allāh was seen in a dream in Jannah, flying from one palm tree to another.

It was said to him:

“What was done with you?” He replied: “I am with the noble and righteous scribes (the honored angels).”

And it was said to him:

“Which deeds did you find to be the best?” He said: “The Qur’an.”

Sheikh al-Islām Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhāb rahimahu’Allah said:

“If going against the people becomes difficult for you, then reflect upon the statement of Allah, the Most High:

(ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۝ إِنَّهُمْ لَن يُغْنُوا عَنكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا)

‘Then We have put you on a clear way of commandment. So follow it, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know. Indeed, they can never avail you against Allah in anything.’”

[Surah Al-Jathiyah 18–19]

[Al-Durar al-Saniyyah 1:43]
Sheikh al-Allāmah Salih Al-Luhaydan rahimahu’Allah said:

“It is befitting for the Muslim to be keen on acquiring knowledge.

However, the way to attain it is not that a person comes and spreads out his cloak and thinks that if he gathers up this cloak, he will be filled with abundant knowledge.

Rather, knowledge requires eagerness, seriousness, and diligent effort.”

[Tadhkīr al-Anām bi-Fawaʾid Umdat al-Aḥkām /15]
‎Narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

‎“Indeed, gentleness is not found in anything except that it beautifies it, and it is not removed from anything except that it disgraces it.”

‎[Sahih Muslim]

‎And gentleness is softness in speech and beauty in action, and it is the shortest path to opening hearts and winning people over.

‎[Al-Sharh al-Muyassar]

‎The Tabiʿi Urwah ibn al-Zubayr (rahimahullah) said:

‎“Gentleness is the head of wisdom.”

‎[Al-Zuhd by Imam Ahmad 274]
