"HODOR" origin

i’m kinda confused, so it was shown in S6 that hodor is a contraction of "hold the door", but i’m confused, was there an event before in hodor/wylis’ early life wherein someone commanded him that, that’s why it became a trauma response after that, up until he grew up, or did he just hear meera’s voice telling him to hold the door the same time as bran did while he was back in the past? SOMEONE PPS EXPLAIN, I DON’T GET THE LOOP 😭😔🙏🏼

The first season I've ever watched was the 8th season

My parents thought I was too young to watch the other seasons at the time (I was 11 when season 8 came out) but they said that the 8th season was bad enough that I could watch it. Honestly, I loved it. 0 complaints. My parents and I had a whole slumber party with popcorn and candy and takeout. I knew about 5 things about the plot that didn't seem very relevant and had a whole lot of fun watching a dragon burn shit down. I decided Arya was my favourite character, I called Jaime Lannister a sister-fucker the entire time and for once my parents didn't chastise me for swearing, and overall had a blast.

I'm finally watching the actual show now and yeah, the 8th season has dropped quite a bit in quality from what I can see (I'm only on season 3 now), but I think I'll always have a special place in my heart for it. It was hilarious seeing how offended my father was when I told him I loved season 8 after watching it the first time. I made him rewatch it about 2 more times afterwards and thinking about it, I might have to call and apologize for that.

which song from the show is your favourite?

i have nobody to talk about this with and i need to hear other peoples opinions, mine is either “light of the seven” that plays during the sept explosions, “the rains of castamere” that plays during the red wedding, that “jenny of oldstones” song that podrick sings in season 8, OR dracarys

light of the seven always gives me full body chills when i hear it, the scene of cersei blowing up the sept will be ingrained in my memory forever, was one of the best scenes shot on the show i think & the music is one the main reasons for that

Crack fic idea: Sir Humphrey is teleported to Kings Landing.

A silly idea, inspired by a YouTube comment: Sir Humphrey from the original Yes Minister gets teleported to Kings Landing right after Ned’s execution. He proceeds to run rings around Cercei, Baelish, Varys and Tyrion and get himself the nice cushioned seat next to the Iron Throne.

Here's a little game: name 3 characters - one who's better in the show, one who's better in the books, and one equally great in both

Characters’ book appearances

I’m reading the novels in English for the first time, I’m absolutely loving it and it’s much more powerful and well written in the original language.

The problem is I’m struggling imagining the characters because I have seen the show so many times and now I can’t help but see the characters as they’re portrayed in the show.

In the books, the characters are different and younger, for example most Starks have red-brownish hair, and I’d like to imagine them that way. Am I the only one struggling with this?

If not, what solutions have you found and have you managed to imagine the characters differently from how they are in the show?
