I'm new to the Game of Thrones universe and I wanted to know what's so anticipated in TWOW and why it's taking so long.
I remember falling in love with GoT less than 4 years ago, and ever since then I've been hearing "the winds of winter are coming," but they never arrive. And I wanted to know, what the hell is Martin writing that's taking so long? Okay, I know Game of Thrones isn't easy to write, but is he dragging it out? Or could we have had a new book a long time ago? And is there any hope for ADOS?

What were people hoping with the ending of GOT?
I just finished the final episode of Game Of Thrones, and I liked it. I can see how people could feel the final episode was anticlimactic or rushed after the previous episode in King's Landing, but I personally feel like it was the best the show could have been with the time that was left (though more time would have been nice!). Danaerys's fall to madness didn't feel rushed to me, everyone's fates made sense to me, there was a lot of tension built up that I think was paid off. I think the only things I'm really left wondering about is what happened with the Lord of Light thing, or why some characters were seemingly dropped until the very end. I'm sad about Missandei, maybe the only character death I truly felt was unnecessary, but even then, I understand why it had happened. It all makes me want to pick up the books and start reading to see what wasn't in the show / what was changed.
I've seen that a lot of what made people dislike the final episodes was that some theories didn't end up playing out— what were they? I'm curious to know what people hoped to play out instead of what happened. From what I understand, the final season was written without a book to guide the directors— are people hoping the final books play out differently? Thanks!

There can never be a show as peak as Game of Thrones!!!
Just completed the entire 8 seasons. First watch. True season 8 was fast paced, true many plot points were left unexplained. Yet this is still the best ever show I have ever watched. Dear God idk where else will I ever find this so peak. Everything comes full circle at the end!!
P.S.- Wanted to add some images for the final 2 episodes, but reddit AI filter is cancelling my posts.

just started watching this show
I never thought GoT would be my thing with how much everyone talked about the abuse and gore and confusing story lines, but my boyfriend convinced me to start it a month ago. “We’ll just watch a couple episodes and we can stop if it’s not your thing”.
We’ve been watching 2-3 episodes a day because I just HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. Every story line is so compelling. The characters are so lovable and despicable. Everyone has strong morals and then they’re immediately thrown out the window or taken to the extremes. The end of season one was INSANE. I can’t even imagine how fun the watch parties must have been back in the day.
I’ve grown to just adoreeee the Starks and want the North to be liberated so badly. I just finished season 3 last night and my face was wet before I even realized I was crying. Tywin Lannister, count your fucking days. I went to bed upset. I woke up still upset.
Fuck this show. I can’t wait to start season 4.

Q: what does Jaime owe Brienne?
Hello, I’m rewatching the series for the first time and am wondering if I’ve forgotten something specific. Help me out?
In Season 3 Episode 6, Jaime tells Roose Bolton that he “owes Brienne a debt”. Did she save his life previously, or is he referring to just her helping him travel to King’s Landing?
I can’t think of one specific event he’s referring to. Thanks very much!
