Joffrey wasn’t just cruel and a coward.

Twice he shows the same military thought processes as Robert. The first when he tells Cersei the same thing Robert does that the realms should have a single army instead of every kid’s having their own. The second when he talks about the threat Daenerys poses. Robert when she married Drogo and Joffrey when she has dragons and both times the threat is dismissed.

I’ve had a profound thought.

Was Jaqen hired to kill Ned? Three people know Ned plans to take The Black; Cersei, Petyr, and Varys. Petyr is of Braavosi descent and it’s his idea to hire TFM to kill Daenerys. He’s betrayed Ned and it’s in his best interest to not let Catelyn of all people know about it. He’s spent years stealing from the crown so he’s got the funds to pay their price. It’s also got the kind of poetry that George likes. You’re hired to kill man, end up saved by his daughter, then send her to the place where you learned to be a killer, and she takes that training and kills the man that hired you to begin with bringing their story full circle.

Watched the show for the first time, I think the only safe way to exist in the Westeros is to be a White Walker

The human lives, no matter commoner, king or anyone, all are so fucked up seriously.

I just realized that Shireen Baratheon had a better claim to the Iron Throne than any of Cersei’s children 😭

What if Robert doesn’t marry Cersei?

The events prior to the first book / episode unfold as they do until Robert sides with Ned instead of Jon Arryn. He orders Tywin arrested for the sacking of King’s Landing and has Clegor Clegane executed for the murder of Elia Martell and her children. Naturally this means no marriage to Cersei.

What happens next?

What is your favourite scene?

I’m currently on my third rewatch and I was wondering what everyone’s favourite scene of the entire series is. Mine used to be Tyrion’s trial in The Laws of Gods and Men, but when I watched The Winds of Winter recently I have to say the scene where Jon Snow is revealed to be Lyanna’s child and not Ned’s, just became my favourite. So, so good.

But ofcourse there’s plenty to choose from. What’s yours?

SPOILERS An alternative arc ending idea for Jaime that I can't shake off

I'm no writer or anything, and I haven't read the books, so I don't know if this has already been posted before or if show Jaime is even the same character as book Jaime. But I still can't get over how badly they butchered Jaime's arc in the Game of Thrones finale.

That whole moment when he decides to go back to Cersei and everyone is just left staring at the screen like "wtf is he doing"... it should've been the setup for something completely different. Cersei was literally turning into the female version of the Mad King, getting crazier and more cruel with every single season. Jaime should have been the one to stab her in the back right when she goes full psycho.

Think about it. He spent his entire life being mocked and hated for being the "Kingslayer". It was his main trait, the thing everyone used to hurt him. If he kills Cersei to save King's Landing for the second time, that title suddenly stops being an insult and becomes this massive, tragic heroic moment. It would completely fix his redemption arc. But nope, they just crushed him with a pile of bricks instead.

But idk, maybe they just wanted to make the ending subvert expectations and be random instead of predictable.

Just wanted to write this because to this day I can't stop thinking about this.

Is Rhllor and the other Gods real?

There is no way to tell and grrm has explicitly said to keep it that way however, what are all the evidence for and against gods existing in the world of ice and fire.

I think they are not real. It’s very inconsistent, the drowned god is all about looting and rape to justify war crimes, the seven gods are just symbolic and have never showed any miracles but the only promising one seems to be rhllor but their religion seems shady, they have temple prostitutes(correct me if I am wrong, I haven’t read the books that far and got THIS information from the fandom wiki of asoiaf) and they would burn men alive just to serve their “good” God. Melisandre is a shadow binder and we don’t know whether the deaths of the three kings were caused by the Lord of the light/melisandre’ magic or they just died because people die in war.

Blood magic or some other magic have a rule, a price for something in return. Thoros resurrection may work like drogos but instead of a life, it chips their self away as berric said. I think the difference is caused by specialisations. My theory is that everyone can use blood magic as long as they know the rituals and materials necessary however that cannot replicate the performance of people who are gifted specifically for certain types of magic, shadowbinding or resurrecting.

I am not confident in any of these theories btw

George R.R. Martin identifies as an atheist or agnostic. While he does not personally practice a religion, he has stated in interviews that he finds spirituality and the history of religion absolutely fascinating which aligns with the depiction of magic and religion. Authors often input their beliefs in their stories. Tolkien was religious and
Eru illivitar was portrayed as an omnipotent God like The Abrahamic God. The series often brings up arguements against God such as why suffering exists and such. Maybe reflecting GRRM’s personal view in religion.

Give me the funniest GOT sketches

My friend is watching with no context at all (didn't even know there were dragons in it) and i just noticed there's a ton of great content he missed, like jon snow's dinner with seth meyers or when daenerys sings rastafarian targaryen, those are some i remember but anything funny or epic that stayed with you so that I can send him when he gets to that point in the story. He's currently at 4x10. Thank you!

Just Rewatched all 8 Seasons

Wow.... Just the best, most intense show. I know Season 8 gets alot of hate but I really appreciated just how brutal some of the battle scenes were. The special effects of that devastating dragon fire from drogon was top tier. I don't know how they set so many stuntman on fire but damn that was as real as you can get. Great show
