[no spoilers] To save Tyrion, could Jaime have volunteered himself to be Tyrion's champion in season 4, as even if he can't fight, Tywin would never put his heir in danger and so would nullify the charges against Tyrion?

Game of Thrones Ollie was the mastermind of the betrayal
I've been rewatching the show and I just finished season 5 and this was kind of the perfect episode to watch on the Ides of March since Jon Snow is betrayed by his men and stabbed repeatedly. I think it's always assumed that Alliser Thorne masterminded this plot to murder Jon, but something that happened in the episode Hardhome made me rethink that.
In that episode Ollie and Sam talk and Ollie expresses his worry over Jon's plan to allow the wildlings through the Wall and Sam tells him that sometimes you have to make a decision that isn't popular, but you do it because it's the right thing to do. I think that when Ollie hears this, and decides that killing Jon is the right thing to do, eventhough it won't be popular. Ollie even reacts to Sam's words as if he realizes what he must do.

Fundamentally, what was the difference between Jon and Robb? More or less, both made the same mistakes

Anyone else find it hilarious when characters go “ 7 hells” or “7 fucks”
This is such a minor detail but I love how in universe they incorporate their own lore of the gods/kingdoms into them swearing lmao.

Did Ned Stark exaggerate his duel with Arthur Dayne?
Based on the revelation of season 6 of Bran watching his father's fight at the tower of joy, Bran talked about it as if his father told everyone the version of the facts, and even if he didn't, Ned Stark never minded to clarify the true details of the event.
And that's why many people wonder if he made it up, or it was only an exaggeration made by people who weren't there.

So what did the gossips of King's Landing think Lord Commander Jamie was up to?
So, the heir of the Westerlands refuses to marry and joins the Kingsguard to make sure of it, and he doesn't have a mistress and doesn't visit brothels and doesn't even seem interested in any of the women or men who were undoubtedly throwing themselves at the king's handsome and charming brother-in-law.
So what DID people think he was up to, before the truth started to get out? Secret perversities? Successfully hidden mistress? Renly or another "brother-in-arms"?

As a new watcher…how did readers do it?!
just finished Season 3 and started Season 4, and honestly, there are so many names and characters at this point that I’m having a hard time keeping track of everyone. I keep finding myself Googling characters just so I can see a picture and go, “Ohhh, right, that person.”
There are so many storylines going on that I sometimes forget about entire characters for an episode or two. Khaleesi and Brienne come to mind, but I’m sure there are others. It’s such a good show, and I’m doing my best to keep up, but it can definitely be a lot.
That got me wondering for the book readers: was it easy for you to follow everything in the books? Did you have trouble remembering all the characters and storylines? Did you ever have to flip back and remind yourself who people were?
I’ve thought about reading the books, but I don’t think I want to start until after I finish the show. Honestly, I feel like the show might make the books easier to follow. I’m just impressed by the people who read the books first and actually knew what was going on!
ETA: I’m 28F and do not have dementia :(
