The mountain is an overrated fighter
The mountains great feats:
1) Kills some peasants
2) Bests two babies in a fight to the death
3) Bullies a child
4) Loses a joust
5) Kills some more peasants
6) Loses to Edmure
7) Has one proper fight, barely wins and dies immediately after from his injuries
Everyone treats him like some amazing fighter who anyone would struggle against but he doesn’t do anything particularly impressive, all he is is tall
Also he cant cope well with bright lights and loud noises Nd is constantly drowsy from milk of the poppy which is quite a big problem for a knight to have, theres probably a reason Tywin keeps him away from the proper battles

Can someone explain Janos Slynt to me?
Let me start by saying I am aware that Westeros is FULL of lords and ladies that are posers, that got where they got due to their own last name/wealth despite their personal incompetence.
But with that said, his character makes no sense to me. Practically anytime we see him, he is all things wrong with a leader. He hides with the women and children during battle yet he was the literal commander of the City Watch. He was not some random knight that got where he was by accident, he had almost two thousand men under his command. He was part of the Small Council as well.
He certainly doesn't come from some major player house. His house was only founded as a favor from Joffrey. He was the lowborn son of a butcher. Same in the books. It can't be as simple as wealth as he has none. It can't be as simple as his family's name, as it's meaningless. It can't be that he's some valiant warrior, because he's very clearly a bumbling coward.
So wtf? Sorry, I hope I'm explaining what I'm asking well enough but am happy to clarify more if needed.

Planning on reading the books
I’ve never actually read any books except my academic ones. I used to read Geronimo stilton stuff and that’s the only stuff I’ve read. I read mangas as well. I watched the show and absolutely loved it. I couldn’t find any other show that could come close and now that I have free time, I’m planning on getting the books and reading them. What would you guys suggest that I read first? Thank you :)

I still don't get why Bran as king? Wouldn't he have made a great grand-maester or Hand instead?
Just finished re-watching the show yesterday. Tyrion's pitch about why Bron makes more sense as a pitch for him to be maester:
he's extremely well versed of the country's history
Bran's mentioned before that he lives in the past (why would this make him a good candidate to usher in a new future when he's stuck in the past?)
Bran's clearly lost his humanity - he doesn't even consider himself to be Bran anymore. Meera's last words to him were "you died in that cave" and he doesn't refute it.
The best kings are supposed to inspire respect, fear and love from his subjects. It would be difficult for anyone to love Bran, he's emotionless and passionless. He can't be feared either really - nothing against cripples but there's a reason why even FDR concealed he's crippled.
What I wish would have happened instead:
Jon Snow continues to accept the decision that he made of bending the knee (it should be against his nature to kill his queen, it makes him no better than the kingslayer)
Arya should have donned a face of someone that Daenarys trusts and killed her. The last time she used a face was the beginning of S7 and was then unused.

about little finger´s plan in season 4 about his plans with killing Lysa Arryn
wtf was little finger´s plan? He marries Lysa Arryn, and several days later after the mariage, she commits "suicide". Thats so fucking suspisious for anyone with brain, and as especed, the lords in Vale have littlefinger as his first suspect of the murder/suicide. Like, wasnt this the most risky play in all of game of thrones? (first 4 seasons only talking).
During the scene where the lords of vale were questioning littlefinger, you could see the fear in little finger´s face, when Sansa cames to the court. Obviously, for sansa, the most logical play for her survival is actually to stay behind little finger, as she says "its better to stay behind someone i know, bcs i can predict their actions better, then behind someone, i do not know." Thats why she was at littlefigner side, and not telling the lords of Vale the truth. Bcs she does not know what to expect from the lords of vale, but she knows what to expect from little finger, so her survival is better with little finger, then with the lords.
But, on the other hand, little finger giving his life purely into sansa´s hands is so fucking risky. If only sansa was a little bit less competent, or if sansa was just a little bit more trusting of her dad´s childhood friends, or if sansa just had emotional moment or smthing, she could throw him under the bus. Remember, Sansa distrust little finger quite a lot (the scenes at the boat), and not to mention she is 14-16 year old girl that has history of not the most competent plays. For instance, she got into emotions and she have hitted lysa´s son when he destroys her snow castle, she has said stuff to joffrey that provoked him, making him torture sansa more, and some more plays where sansa´s emotions got her into worse possition (with is completly understandable, cause was just a teenager at the time).
my point is, that little finger giving his life up to a hands of a teenage girl is so fucking risky. Did i miss something important? maybe the plan was not so bad and i just missed some critiqal information. let me know in comments, thanks for reading.

Watching someone experience the red wedding for the first time
My boyfriend had never seen or read GOT, but really enjoyed watching AKOTSK with me this winter. Since then I’ve been doing a rewatch with him - my third viewing and first with a newcomer.
The next episode is The Rains of Castamere… I don’t think he has any idea something big is coming, or if he does, he doesn’t suspect it’s now. I CANNOT WAIT to see his reaction.
Needed to share my enthusiasm here so I’m not suspiciously giddy! Made me wonder, what were some of the best reactions of other people’s loved ones watching big moments (that you knew were coming) happen for the first time?
