the charge of The Dothraki Horde on the long night

What result are we hoping for here? 2,000 charging 100,000 without support. Every time I watch it my military days rips its eyes out. What are we thinking the best case scenario is?

(Spoilers Main) Cersei Lannister, Jane Shore, and the Harringtons

Hey!

I was reading Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon and encountered the chapter concerning Cersei's 'Walk of Shame' and how ["Martin’s usage was based off the punishment of King Edward IV’s mistress Jane Shore in the fifteenth century. After Edward’s death in 1483, the king’s brother took the throne and charged Shore with conspiracy, accusing her of “sorcery” and “witchcraft.” Shore was forced to endure a penance walk through London wearing only a thin white undergarment while the crowd “shamed” her."\]

So, I did some cursory research into her. It's an interesting story (and I've ordered a book on the subject) but I wanted to share something I discovered.

It's common knowledge that Kit Harington (Christopher Catesby Harington) is a descendent of Sir John Harrington, the inventor of the flush toilet.

Jane Shore (who was born Elizabeth Lambert) was the mistress of various noblemen. One of her suitors, Thomas Grey, the 1st Marquess of Dorset, was married to a Cecily Bonville, the 7th Baroness Harington and stepdaughter to William Hastings. Which means Kit is the 10th great-grandson of Sir John Harrington, and Cecily roughly his 4th cousin, 16 times removed by my calculation. Now, Kit is directly descended from the Harringtons of Kelston, whereas Cecily comes from the Harringtons of Aldingham, but I still find the historical connection fascinating.

TLDR - George was inspired by the punishment of a 15th-Century mistress when writing Cersei's 'Walk of Shame' - and a distant relative to Kit was one of her cuckoldress.

Please correct me on anything I've got wrong. Oh, and it's important to note that her penance was the result of a conspiracy charge, not her philandering.

EDIT: I spelt Harington with two 'r's' - g'damn it.

Winterfell confuses me. In the show they never really ever show it as being a large complex. It’s basically the capital of the North where is everyone? Outside the walls is just snow.

I’ve never understood this. I mean Ramsey had 6,000 men there? Dany brought in like 8,000 unsullied and supposedly 100,000 Dothraki? I know Sansa addresses ‘how are we suppose to feed them all, let alone dragons’

But my lord. How were they feeding anyone even before that?

8 seasons. You don’t see any farmlands or milling towns or literally anything around the walls of winterfell. I understand there are cities around the walls further away. But what? When Dany and Ramsey had their men there.. where did they sleep? They don’t even ever show like soldier housing. Or tents, just absolutely nothing.

It just annoys me. Anyone else? Would’ve been cool to see a few towns right near winterfell

Why does jaqen say arya is finally no one?

i just finished season 6 ep 8 as a first time watcher and im confused on why arya finally became no one. before jaqen says to be no one you have to give up all hopes and dreams and just serve the faceless god or smth like that, but isnt arya doing the exact opposite? how does arya killing the girl who worked for jaqen make her a no one.

Or is he just testing arya to see if she knows shes still arya.

In the books, Tyrion and Sandor are as bad as Littlefinger

In my posts I frequently see the suggestion Tyrion or Sandor could be Sansa's love interest.

Those people have clearly not read the books.

In the books, they are much more aggressive and evil than their show counterparts, especially towards Sansa. The show whitewashed them.

Tyrion gropes her on their wedding night.

>"A child," he repeated, "but I want you. Does that frighten you, Sansa?" ... When he hopped up on the bed and put his hand on her breast, Sansa could not help but shudder. She lay with her eyes closed, every muscle tense, dreading what might come next. Would he touch her again? Kiss her? Should she open her legs for him now? She did not know what was expected of her.

Think about how horrific that is.

Sandor almost rapes her, pushing her onto her bed and holding a knife to her throat.

>He yanked her closer, and for a moment she thought he meant to kiss her. He was too strong to fight. She closed her eyes, wanting it to be over, but nothing happened. "Still can't bear to look, can you?" she heard him say. He gave her arm a hard wrench, pulling her around and shoving her down onto the bed. "I'll have that song. Florian and Jonquil, you said." His dagger was out, poised at her throat. "Sing, little bird. Sing for your little life."

Later she has nightmares about this.

It is horrific to imply Sansa could "end up" with either of these men.
