When Jamie went to winterfell to help defend it, should he and Danearys have sat down together to talk about her dad? A.k.a mad king
i know this sounds kinda silly, but i always thought it might have been worth while for Jamie and Dany to have had a few minutes to chat about her dad. and jamie given the chance to explain why he did what he did so she could have heard his side of what happened.
i doubt this would change anything plot wise but i remember how fascinated danaerys was when she heard personal accounts of her brother from Sir Barristan Selmey. Jamie could have given her insight about the mad king and how or why he ended up the way he did.

Why is Ellaria allowed so much power? Am I missing something?
I'm on rewatch number I don't even know and one thing that's really bothering me this time around is Ellaria's status. I understand the concept of a courtesan/"paramour" (how is she a "paramour" though if Oberyn flaunts her everywhere as if she's his wife?) But this is on a different level. I understand that she's the mother of Oberyn's youngest children and it seems that they probably would be married if she was noble instead of a bastard, and there's also the fact that the culture in Dorne and their view on "bastards" seem to differ quite a bit from the rest of Westeros.
But with all of that, I just don't get it? Like why is she just chilling in the palace with the Martells after Oberyn's death? Why is she involved in political discussions and trying to influence Doran when she isn't a noble? Why is she allowed enough access to Myrcella to be able to sneak into her chambers when she has such a vendetta against the Lannisters because of Oberyn's death? Why is she allowed enough access to Myrcella to poison her? It just isn't making any sense to me. I am reading the books but I'm only on the first so maybe once I get to where Oberyn and Ellaria are introduced in the books I'll get some better perspective, but from the perspective of the show it seems that Ellaria is just the favorite mistress/girlfriend of a dead prince.
