Gold volatility set to increase due to trade wars uncertainty

Unresolved US-China trade disputes increase market volatility and lead the demand for gold as a protective asset recently. However, it would be too simplistic to believe that gold will grow until the parties finally agree.

Gold has increased 18% year-to-date, and this trend has only an indirect connection with trade wars. The monetary policy seen as the main reason behind recent gold growth. And this connection puts gold on the same side with the stock markets, rather than being antipodes.

The Chinese money support major crypto

Over the last 24h, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), climbed about 5% and 6% respectively. This increase may be due to the launch of the p2p platform from Binance, where Bitcoin and Ether trades in Chinese yuan.

Bitcoin’s growth momentum has led RSI out of the oversold area. This index rose above 30 on the daily charts. Last time the recovery of the index from oversold territory occurred in January of this year and preceded the stop of BTCUSD decline.

Better than expected US CPI may ease the pressure on the dollar

Published US inflation data noted the continued its high growth rate. The core CPI (ex. food and energy) maintained a 2.4% y/y for the second month in a row. These data coincided with analysts' estimates; however, caused a slight strengthening of the dollar after the release, as traders probably put weaker inflation rates in quotes.

Optimistic trade and Brexit comments pushed GBP up 2% and increase demand for risks

Investors' risk appetite increased noticeably in the second half of the week. Both unattainable deals β€” #Brexit and China-US β€” seem to have become a little closer. #GBPUSD jumped 2%, the most vigorous growth in the last seven months.

Preferably, risks for the Pound are tilted upwards so far, but the difficulties around the deal are still able to keep it from the growth.

US-China: economic damage despite trade deal optimism

Friday's partial deal was the most significant breakthrough in the 15-month long US-China trade dispute. The financial markets experienced considerable growth on the news, but took more cautious approach on Monday.

The signing of this trade agreement is similar to pick the lowest hanging fruits. But to get the deal done, more and more efforts will be needed with each phase.

The resent breakthrough is nomore than a pause in further tariff increases. However, the previous measures already hurt the economy.
