Market Sentiment for October 29, 2026
Bitcoin has failed to break through resistance, whereas BNB is gaining ground

The crypto market has returned to the region of local lows, with a market capitalisation of $2.67T. Cryptocurrencies failed to mount a rally as stock indices resumed their downward trend, with markets pricing in a slightly higher probability of interest rate rises over the coming year and growing concerns about corporate earnings following a 10% slump in Alphabet shares. The decline in altcoins over the past day was widespread. BNB (+0.6%), Tron (+0.02%) and Litecoin (βˆ’0.7%) outperformed the market, while the three worst-performing coins were Basic Attention Token (βˆ’9.5%), Near Protocol (βˆ’8.3%) and Dash (βˆ’7.4%).

On Wednesday, Bitcoin encountered resistance at its 50-day moving average, reversing lower from the $81.7K region and retreating to $79.9K at the time of writing. This marks yet another test of support within the very narrow trading range in which BTC has found itself. Given the close correlation between cryptocurrencies and the Nasdaq-100, the greatest risk today is a decline in the price of the leading cryptocurrency toward $75K, as the bears have demonstrated their strength in curbing the uptrend.

▢️ Nat Gas. Triangle completed?

Today is Thursday, October 29th, and we’re going to talk about the gas market, where a multi-year triangle has most likely been completed. Let’s look at the daily chart. You can see this large triangle that began forming back in 2020. Note that wave E has probably been completed within it.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ Pre-market trading in the US stock market is mixed, with a moderate upward bias: the largest companies by market capitalisation across sectors are mostly posting gains, despite sharp declines in individual stocks.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is down 0.67%, while Apple (AAPL) is up 1.22%.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 1.29%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 1.22%.

In the Health Care sector, Eli Lilly (LLY) is up 4.94%, while Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is up 2.17%.

Given that a significant proportion of mega-caps are trading in positive territory, the market environment is closer to a risk-on mode: interest in risky assets is heightened, while demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset remains subdued.

In the short term, this creates a neutral backdrop for the dollar, shifting investors’ focus toward Treasury yield dynamics.

The impact of the Binance hack is unlikely to last long

The crypto market has fallen by 2.2% over the past 24 hours to $2.61T, having dipped to $2.57T at its lowest point, matching the lows seen on 16 September. The market is currently undergoing a crucial test of buyer sentiment. In theory, we could see a wave of sell-offs due to a reassessment of risks facing the sector. However, it is worth remembering that even the collapse of FTX at the end of 2022, an event on a larger scale than the recent Binance hack, dealt a short-lived blow, and the market stabilised within the following days.

Bitcoin fell below $76.5K early on Friday, hitting its lowest level in nearly 6 weeks amid the $6.3 billion Binance hack, the largest in history. Following reassuring comments from the exchange, the leading cryptocurrency rebounded to $78K, but external factors, such as sell-offs in big-tech shares and metals, are creating a negative backdrop, hindering any recovery. The technical picture also favours the bears, as the sell-off in BTC has intensified after a failed attempt to return to the 50-day MA. On the downside, the nearest support level appears to be $75K, from where a rebound occurred in the middle of last month. However, a slide down to $73.3K, near which the 200-day MA lies, cannot be ruled out.
