Market Sentiment for October 27, 2026
Crypto: sentiment has dipped to the lower half

The crypto market retreated a further 0.4% over the last day to $2.66T, a six-week low. There is a sense that the market is slowly sinking, falling deeper below the 50-day moving average. Interestingly, cryptocurrencies are under pressure despite the positive momentum in equities. A similar divergence is observed in precious metals, where gold is rising while platinum and silver are falling. It feels as though buyers are currently focused on propping up flagship assets, while selling is spreading to more and more sectors, including cryptocurrencies. This looks like a sign of a bull market running out of steam, or of the market biding its time for a new growth trigger, as there are no longer enough fresh ideas from new buyers.

The sentiment index has fallen to 48, its lowest level since 19 August, the day the latest rally began. All eyes are now on whether we will see a further deterioration in sentiment or whether the current downturn will attract buyers. According to the indicator’s creators, the optimal buying opportunity is the zone of extreme fear, but even localised dips can attract demand.

▢️ US Dollar. Outlook

Today is Tuesday, October 27, and today we’re going to talk about the dollar index. I’ll show you the daily chart. Yes, as you can see, this is a daily chart with a logarithmic scale. On this daily chart we can see a pattern developing that is called an ending diagonal, and we are potentially in this fifth wave right now, here it is.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ Mixed trends are prevailing in pre-market trading on the US stock market.

In the Financials sector, JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 0.75%, while Bank of America (BAC) is up 0.83%.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 1.00%, while Broadcom (AVGO) is up 3.13%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Tesla (TSLA) is up 1.00%, while in the Energy sector, Exxon Mobil (XOM) is down 0.62%.

From a foreign exchange perspective, the current market configuration appears to reflect a cautious risk-on mode: the rise in the most highly capitalised technology and financial companies is sustaining interest in US risk assets, but the scale of the movement has not yet provided a strong impetus for the dollar to strengthen or weaken.

In such an environment, the dollar generally trades neutrally, while short-term dynamics depend more on expectations regarding Fed interest rates and the external backdrop.

Market Sentiment for October 28, 2026
Crypto recovers as Fed decision looms

The crypto market capitalisation rebounded by 1.5% to $2.71T, buoyed by positive momentum in traditional markets. However, the fact that it remains below the 50-day moving average suggests market caution. Among the most liquid coins, the ratio of gainers to losers over the past 24 hours stands at 12:1. The top gainers were Bitcoin Cash and Near Protocol (both up 6.3%), as well as Hyperliquid (up 4.8%). Dash (βˆ’1%), Hedera (βˆ’0.3%) and Internet Computer (βˆ’0.1%) are down.

The main short-term risk is the Fed’s rhetoric. Concerns about inflation and a willingness to raise interest rates could intensify sell-offs across markets, including cryptocurrencies. A wait-and-see attitude could bring buyers back, creating the conditions for a new rally following a prolonged slide. In our view, despite high oil prices and inflation seeping into core commodities, the Fed will be more cautious in its wording than the market expected a month ago, taking into account the rapid deterioration in equity market sentiment and the fragility of the debt markets.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“‰ Ahead of the Fed's interest rate decision, negative sentiment is prevailing in pre-market trading on the US stock market.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is down 1.18%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 0.20%.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 0.76%, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is up 1.64%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Tesla (TSLA) is up 0.80%, while McDonald's (MCD) is down 0.71%.

The predominance of declines among major issuers, alongside localised support for certain technology names, reflects risk aversion within the US market.

In this environment, short-term capital flows are shifting toward more defensive dollar-denominated assets and Treasuries, which is providing a moderately supportive backdrop for the dollar.
