Bitcoin is barely clinging to its uptrend
The crypto market accelerated its decline on Wednesday following a sell-off in big tech stocks and a surge in the likelihood of interest rate hikes after core inflation exceeded expectations. Market capitalisation fell to $2.72T (β2.8%), its lowest level in nearly a month. Of the top 100 coins by market capitalisation, only six are rising. Among the most liquid coins, declines range from β0.4% (Tron) and β1.5% (Hyperliquid) to β9.1% (Filecoin) and β8.5% (SushiSwap).
The sentiment index plummeted to 53, a new low since 17 September. As with Bitcoin, market sentiment is undergoing a crucial test of its readiness to turn the page on the bear market. Remaining in the upper half of the scale would indicate a fundamental shift in market sentiment, given that the index spent only a single day in that range between October 2025 and August 2026.

The crypto market fell to a near one-month low amid inflation and a sell-off in risky assets. Bitcoin holds the 50-day MA, but ETF outflows and a USDT shortage heighten risks.

πΊπΈ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market
π Mixed trends are prevailing in the US stock market's pre-market session: gains among a number of major companies are offsetting losses in the technology sector, while the overall picture does not indicate a marked flight from risk.
In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is down 1.73%, Apple (AAPL) is up 0.68%, while Microsoft (MSFT) is down 0.42%.
In the Communication Services sector, Alphabet (GOOGL) is down 0.75%.
In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 0.88%, while Visa (V) is up 1.14%.
Under these conditions, the foreign exchange market is receiving mixed signals: risk appetite for certain blue-chip stocks is holding back demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset, while weakness in parts of the technology sector is not generating a pronounced flow of capital either into or out of the dollar. As a result, the short-term trend for the USD remains largely neutral, with no clear momentum toward sustained strengthening or weakening.

The yen seized the moment - FxPro News, Financial Market Analytics
The yen gained on US dollar selling, verbal intervention and hawkish BoJ rhetoric. However, the wide yield spread still supports the USDJPY uptrend.
βΆοΈ Pro News Flash: Pound Under Pressure
π· The British pound is facing mounting pressure as investors weigh expectations of a Bank of England rate hike in November against slowing economic growth and persistent budget concerns. Sterling has reached a 16-month high against the euro, but speculators have increased their net short positions on the pound for three consecutive weeks, signalling growing caution.
π The divergence between the UK and US economies is adding to the pressure on GBP/USD. Wall Street Journal experts have raised their 2026 US GDP growth forecast from 2.1% to 2.4%, while higher inflation, rising interest rates and a soft labour market threaten to weigh on UK business activity. Meanwhile, 30-year UK government bond yields have climbed above 6%, reflecting concerns over the budget and capital outflows.
π¦ Monetary policy could be another key driver. The Bank of England is expected to raise its repo rate from 3.75% to 4% in November, while the Federal Reserve may delay its next hike until December. If these expectations hold, borrowing costs in the US and UK could converge by next month, although elevated bond yields may limit the BoEβs room to tighten policy further.
π The outlook for EUR/GBP is also shifting. Net short positions on the euro have fallen to their lowest levels since February 2020. Bloomberg Economics expects the ECBβs deposit rate to reach 2.75% by the end of 2026 before easing to 2.5% by the end of 2027, while the BoEβs repo rate is expected to remain at 4% throughout the coming year. The big question is whether diverging growth prospects and central bank expectations will keep the pound under pressure.

The crypto market has found buyers
The crypto market rose by 2.2% to $2.76T over the past day, as bargain hunters stepped up their activity late on Thursday across a wide range of financial markets. The market managed to return to its 50-day moving average, suggesting bullish sentiment. In the world of traditional finance, October has a reputation as the 'bear market killer', while in the cryptocurrency world, it is even referred to as 'Uptober'. Given this backdrop, the psychological edge lies with the bulls, despite a rather disheartening first half of the month. This likely explains why cryptocurrencies have turned upwards across the board, with only two of the top 100 coins down over the past 24 hours. Among the most liquid coins, gains range from 16.9% (Basic Attention Token) and 11.7% (Aptos) to 1% (Bitcoin) and 0.6% (Tron). The market is moving like a flock of birds, abruptly shifting direction from a general decline to broad-based growth.
Bitcoin has been one of the weaker performers in terms of growth over the past day. Trading at $82K, the leading cryptocurrency once again saw a steady influx of buyers during the dip below $80K, avoiding a close below the 50-day moving average, which continues to act as support for the uptrend. This time, the global backdrop is favouring buyers, given the increase in bond purchases, the weakening of the dollar and the rally in key US indices on Thursday.
