▢️ FxPro: What’s Moving Markets Next Week

Stay informed with FxPro’s weekly update and stay ahead of what’s shaping the markets.

Next week is a little quieter with Wednesday and Thursday still bringing plenty to watch. πŸ‘€πŸŒ

Wednesday brings Flash PMIs across Europe with a mixed picture. France’s services sector is still shrinking, Germany is hovering around the line, while the UK looks comparatively solid. πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Then Thursday brings two stories to watch. The Swiss National Bank is expected to hold its interest rate at zero per cent, while Australia’s jobs data takes centre stage just days before the RBA rate decision. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ¦

A quieter calendar doesn’t mean a quiet market. Keep an eye on the data that could shape the next moves. πŸŒπŸ“ˆ

Altcoins drive the rally as Bitcoin plays catch-up

The crypto market capitalisation has risen to $2.8T, its highest level since the end of January this year. Although Friday’s rally was followed by increased selling pressure, buyers have once again been dominating the cryptocurrency market since Sunday. As a result, by the start of active trading in Europe, market capitalisation was 6% higher than a week ago. Altcoins are once again the main driving force, following legislative initiatives by the SEC and CFTC. Their rise above May’s highs is a strong bullish signal of an uptrend. Over the past 24 hours, the top performers were NEAR Protocol (+24.4%), Avalanche (+14.5%) and The Graph (+10%), while the worst performers in our sample were Uniswap (-0.3%), Dash (+0.6%) and IOTA (+0.7%).

Bitcoin appears to be lagging so far, with a 5% gain for the week and a price of $81.6K. The price of the leading cryptocurrency has surpassed the key psychological level of $80K. Still, it has not yet technically broken through the resistance at the highs from early September and May. Last week closed above the 50-week MA, something that hasn’t happened since last November. The optimism surrounding altcoins is clearly boosting the bulls’ chances in BTC, but in this case, it is better not to get ahead of oneself by rushing to buy coins. In our view, this is already a bull market, but that does not rule out sudden pullbacks, so it is worth exercising heightened caution until clearer signals of a transition to active growth emerge.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ Positive trends are prevailing in the US stock market's pre-market session.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 0.67%, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is up 3.74%.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is down 0.35%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 0.86%.

In the Energy sector, Exxon Mobil (XOM) is down 1.11%, while Chevron (CVX) is down 0.93%.

Overall, market sentiment points to a risk-on mode: the rise in shares of the largest technology companies is fuelling interest in risky assets.

Demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset remains subdued; a sustained strengthening of the US currency in these conditions is unlikely without additional drivers from the Fed or the macroeconomy.

BTC breaks resistance, eyes $85K–$95K range

The crypto market continues its upward trajectory, gaining a further 3.6% to $2.90T over the past 24 hours. Since its low point in early August, market capitalisation has risen by 38%. On the other hand, following such impressive growth, the market has only just managed to reach the support zone where it had been trading from last November until the end of January this year. Interestingly, the performance of altcoins has been more varied than on Monday, with signs of short-term profit-taking in certain coins. The top performers were Dogecoin (+11.7%), VeChain (+6.8%) and Stellar (+6.4%). Declines were recorded by Avalanche (βˆ’7%), Tezos (βˆ’2.4%) and SushiSwap (βˆ’0.4%).

The sentiment index soared to 78 (extreme greed), its highest level since July last year. Earlier last week, the indicator remained in the upper half of the scale, having been in the lower half since October 2025. This marked shift in sentiment complements the strong upward momentum in cryptocurrency prices since mid-August.

⚠️ EU β€” ECB President Christine Lagarde Speaks at 11:00 GMT
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ A moderately positive trend is prevailing in pre-market trading in the US stock market.

In the Communication Services sector, Alphabet (GOOGL) is up 0.38%.

In the Information Technology sector, Microsoft (MSFT) is up 1.22%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Amazon (AMZN) is down 0.54%, while in the Consumer Staples sector, Walmart (WMT) is up 0.74%.

In the Energy sector, Exxon Mobil (XOM) is down 1.32%, while Chevron (CVX) is down 1.17%.

Given that the segment of the largest IT companies by market capitalisation is showing steady growth, the market sentiment is leaning toward risk-on: interest in risky assets remains strong, while demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset remains subdued.

In this scenario, the foreign exchange market is likely to see a neutral or slight correction in the dollar.

▢️ Pro News Flash: Gold Defies the Fed

πŸ₯‡ Gold is showing remarkable resilience despite the Fed’s rate hikes and Kevin Warsh’s hawkish rhetoric. Strong investment demand and a surge in Chinese imports are helping the precious metal hold its ground.

πŸ“ˆ The Fed’s tightening and renewed confidence in U.S. assets have weakened the debasement trade, but gold has proven it can perform even during aggressive rate hikes. Chinese imports surged by 1,000 tonnes between January and August, already exceeding the total for 2025.

🏦 Gold ETF holdings have also risen for 8 straight days, reaching 100.4 million ounces, the highest level since early March. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered expects gold to average $4,650 per ounce in Q4 as investors focus more on de-dollarisation, currency devaluation and fiscal risks.

🎯 With concerns around U.S. fiscal policy still in focus, gold could remain supported even as the Fed tightens. The question is whether the precious metal can push higher from here.
