▢️ FxPro: What’s Moving Markets Next Week

Stay informed with FxPro’s weekly update and stay ahead of what’s shaping the markets.

Inflation takes centre stage this week, with several key economic releases that could shape expectations for interest rates and market sentiment. 🌍

Tuesday kicks things off with the Reserve Bank of Australia's latest interest rate decision. Markets are expecting the cash rate to remain unchanged at 4.35%, but traders will be watching closely for any changes in the central bank's outlook. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

On Wednesday, attention turns to the latest US Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for July. Inflation previously came in at 3.5%, and investors will be looking to see whether price pressures are finally beginning to ease. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ“Š

Friday wraps up the week with US Retail Sales and the latest Consumer Sentiment data. After recent signs that consumer spending may be slowing, these releases will offer fresh insight into the strength of the US economy and could influence expectations for future Federal Reserve policy. πŸ›οΈπŸ“ˆ

With inflation, consumer spending and central bank expectations all in focus, currencies, indices and commodities could see increased volatility throughout the week. πŸ‘€

Bitcoin consolidates around $65K, setting its sights on $70K

The crypto market capitalisation has risen to $2.22T, returning to the levels seen at its two-week highs. Since the start of August, the balance of power has shifted in favour of buyers, but the pace of this recovery is significantly slower than that of the similar rally seen in early July. This suggests a slight waning of buyer interest following the rebound from the June and July lows, given that the market currently lacks fundamental drivers of growth. Among the most active coins over the past 7 days, the top performers were Theta (+14.3%), as well as SushiSwap and Cosmos (both +8.5%), while the worst performers were Stellar and NEAR (both down -2.9%), as well as XRP (-2.7%), which further points to a predominance of growth.

The sentiment index stands at 30 at the start of the day on Monday. Since mid-July, this indicator has been in the β€˜fear’ zone, only occasionally touching the 25 level (β€˜extreme fear’). This is a gradual shift in sentiment that is worth monitoring from time to time. Still, cautious medium-term investors will likely prefer to stay on the sidelines until this indicator consolidates above 50.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ US Pre-Market: Mixed πŸ“Š

Mixed trading is prevailing in the US stock market pre-market, with a slight upward bias driven by gains in some of the largest stocks.
In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 0.54%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is down 0.09%.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is down 0.33%, while Micron Technology (MU) is down 1.49%.

In the Health Care sector, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is down 0.25%, while Eli Lilly (LLY) is up 0.36%.

From a foreign exchange perspective, this mixed picture β€” with some mega-caps rising while others fall β€” is creating a neutral, mildly risk-on sentiment. Demand for safe-haven dollar assets remains moderate: there is no clear flight from risk, nor any clear signals of significant dollar weakness.

▢️ Oil. Beginning of a rally?

Today is Monday, and we're talking about the oil market β€” so what's going on there?

Well, the situation is extremely interesting.

As a reminder, our oil forecast hasn't changed in quite some time. The key point is this: back at the beginning of July, a major triangle that had been forming for eighteen years finally completed at this level.

Corporations are returning Bitcoin to the retail investors

Over the past 24 hours, the crypto market has fallen by 2% to $2.18T, once again failing to establish a firm upward trend. Fundamental and psychological pressure on the market is being exerted by the shift towards AI among those companies which, in their desire to be at the forefront, had previously championed cryptocurrencies, from holders led by Strategy to miners such as MARA. Although there are buyers, it is clear that institutional investors are currently focused on selling the leading cryptocurrency to build up liquidity or switch to AI. At the start of the week, the cryptocurrency market was under widespread pressure, with the ratio of rising to falling coins at approximately 1:10. Gainers include Internet Computer (+4.6%), Chainlink (+2.5%) and Cosmos (+1.2%). The three worst-performing among the most liquid coins are Cardano (-5%), Zcash (-4.2%) and Aave (-4.1%).

Bitcoin lost 2%, retreating to $64K. The price is trading just above the 50-day moving average, which has been moving almost horizontally for the past three weeks. This is clear evidence of a delicate balance of power, within which a transfer of value from businesses to investors is likely taking place. For the stock market, this often leads to losses for the latter. In cryptocurrencies, the opposite has historically been the case: retail investors created the hype, and at a certain point, it was beneficial for corporations’ image to join the trend. Now, corporations are keen to focus on other areas, which risks accelerating the liquidation of BTC positions in the coming weeks, but in the long term, it returns cryptocurrencies to their ideological roots.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ US Pre-Market: Moderately Positive πŸ“ˆ

Moderately positive trends are prevailing in the US stock market pre-market.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 1.56%, while Micron Technology (MU) is up 1.66%.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 0.14%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 0.09%.

In the Energy sector, Exxon Mobil (XOM) is down 0.34%, while Chevron (CVX) is down 0.42%.

The predominance of gains among large-cap technology and financial companies points to risk-on sentiment within the US market. In this scenario, demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset remains subdued, and the dollar's short-term performance is likely to be neutral, barring any negative developments on Fed rates or US economic expectations.
▢️ USD. 2026 Forecast

Today is Tuesday the 11th of August, and we'll be discussing the US dollar. We'll be looking at the US Dollar Index chart. This is the daily chart. We don't look at this chart very often, but it's very interesting in terms of context and for the outlook heading into the autumn and winter of 2026–27
