Spicy take (?): Unionization, at least in its current mode in most Western countries, will not bring about major structural changes. Especially when the unions that are organizing are yellow unions / business unions that have no desire to radicalize and carryβ¦

- Historically? the SPD (in Germany) which had mass union organization and refused to resist the German Empire entry into the 1st World War, and actually actively used those unions to repress class consciousness and international solidarity in support of the war effort.
- Today? the AFL-CIO (USA) gave the Bush administration minor resistance over its intention to invade Iraq, and not too long after actively backed the government position on war. Only two years later, 2005, they passed a lukewarm resolution encouraging to return troops; the AFL-CIO would only change its position in 2017 - after hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been murdered by the US regime.
Individuals and collectives have power - but it has to be realized. Call it "will to power" or call it class conscious idgaf the point stands.
