If banking is 100% government-backed with our taxpayer money, then let's do away with their for-profit nature and make them truly accountable to the individual.
The last decade has seen skyrocketing interest rates, but the average person isn't the beneficiary of that - the Banks are. While interest rates on your savings and deposits barely make a percent, loans and credit lines offered by Banks & Co. come with huge interest rates. If these institutions are covered to the bone with taxpayer money, then it's time to make them answerable for us.
