the concept of following niche sub culture isn't new, it describes an important part of your personality.
but i'm seeing a shift in those demographics as soon as it is getting mainstream. nigga hate the over-generalisation of meaning behind why you followed a particular sub culture, not the sub culture as whole.
these people who followed their "favorite niche genre" drops it as soon as it hits the majority.
ask yourself, "did you really cared about the genre or just being niche?"
my hate is basically upon the definition of why you followed it, as soon as something hits a higher population then the meaning gets reduce the minimum...like tame impala, F1 many more, i have not stopped interacting with these genre, but the base is now nullified. nobody listens to tame impala how it's supposed to be and nobody cares about F1 like it should be..
in our generation, having a form of culture under your rug is 'validation' privilege.

new example where people are hating on UNIYAL, the singer of "VARTMAAN" just to prove they are better than some other people.
have you ever fucking heard him? name one more song other than this one, you're not privileged to hate anything when you haven't even stepped in the fking domain

I agree aajkal niche sub culture ko follow Krna ek validation pass bangya hai Log kisi genre, artist ya interest ko sirf isliye pasand karte hain kyunki wo "underground" hai toh unhe unique feel hota hai..
Lekin wahi mainstream hua toh chor dete hai kyuki ab unique ni.lgta unhe
I hate it when the true essence of a genre gets diluted.. when people follow it just because it’s trendy these days having a niche interest has become a privilege for validation, not a reflection of genuine passion..
