As the bitcoin price fell below $54,000 on July 5 and the complexity dropped by 5%, cryptocurrency mining devices with energy efficiency of at least 26 W/TH remained profitable. With the price recovering to $55,200, the list of profitable ASIC miners has expanded.
The leader is Bitmain's Antminer S21 XP Hydro, which brings $11.9 profit per day at an energy tariff of $0.07 per kWh. Bitmain's S19 series devices and Canaan models such as the Avalon A1566 also remain profitable.
CryptoQuant noted signs of capitulation by miners, who have begun shutting down inefficient equipment and selling off reserves. Glassnode analyst James Cheek disagreed, though he acknowledged some problems in the industry.

Paxful co-founder Arthur Shabak pleaded guilty to failing to have an effective anti-money laundering (AML) program in place on the company's P2P platform. According to court documents, Shabak operated the platform by allowing customers to open accounts without sufficient KYC procedures and providing third parties with fake AML policies, knowing that the company did not implement or comply with them.
As a result of its failure to implement AML and KYC programs, Paxful became a vehicle for money laundering and other criminal activity, including fraud, romance scams, extortion, and prostitution. Shabak also failed to file any reports of suspicious activity, even though it was occurring.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 4, Shabak faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison. The 36-year-old Estonian national will also leave Paxful's board of directors.
