S-1 approval for Ethereum-ETF is possible this Summer
SEC head Gary Gensler said that S-1 approval for Ethereum-ETF is possible by the end of summer. The statement came in response to questions from lawmakers during a hearing before the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee. Gensler emphasized that the registration process for issuers is going smoothly.
On May 23, the SEC approved 19b-4 offerings from issuers of Ethereum-based spot exchange-traded funds. Trading will begin once the registration statements on Form S-1 are signed. However, the lack of staking in the Ethereum-ETF will limit institutional investor interest, noted cryptocurrency trader Gordon Grant.
JPMorgan predicts that net inflows into ETH-ETFs by the end of 2024 will be between $1 billion and $3 billion, but could triple with the return of the staking option. Experts are also doubtful about maintaining high rates of inflows into BTC-ETFs, attributing this to the current high prices of bitcoin and its mining.

Dollar-linked Stablecoins can Support the US Currency
Paul Ryan, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, believes that the use of dollar-linked stablecoins will help maintain the attractiveness of the U.S. currency and alleviate the problem of growing government debt. In an article for the WSJ, he noted that the development of the steblecoin market could be a source of demand for U.S. government bonds.
Ryan believes the U.S. should not issue CBDC because public blockchain-based steblecoins better reflect American values of freedom and openness. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino supported this view, noting that USDT is used by more than 300 million people worldwide as a digital dollar and that Tether is one of the top three buyers of short-term U.S. Treasury bills.
The total size of the stablecoin market is nearly $162B, of which USDT accounts for $112.5B. Analysts at Deutsche Bank Research, however, predict that most existing stablecoins could lose their peg and disappear.

Binance CEO prediction: Bitcoin will reach $80,000
CEO of the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance Richard Teng said in an interview with Bankless that the price of bitcoin will overcome the $80,000 mark by the end of the year. According to him, the improving macroeconomic environment and the Federal Reserve's easing of monetary policy will create favorable conditions for the growth of the cryptocurrency market.
