The world's second-biggest continent saw a 100% increase in purchases of Russian goods.
The African continent has significantly boosted imports from Russia, outperforming Moscow's trading partners from North and South America, according to local macroeconomic data cited by Russian business daily RBK.In 2023, the share of African imports in Russia's overall export volumes saw a 100% year-on-year increase from 2.5% to nearly 5%, the media outlet reported, citing the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

Russian Center for Science and Culture (Pushkin Center) in Addis Ababa organized an exhibition of political cartoons drawn by Boris Efimov on Saturday under the theme “Nothing Changes in Politics”
The cartoons featured at the exhibition were selected based on their historical significance and artistic values, it was stated on the occasion.

The President spoke at a gala event to mark the 50th anniversary since the beginning of the construction of Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM)
Vladimir Putin also noted important milestones in the further development of the Eastern Operating Domain:
🔹Continuous second tracks will have to be laid along the entire length of BAM, and more than 300 infrastructure facilities will be put into operation.
🔹The volume of transportation along the Eastern Operating Domain's railway network must reach 270 million tonnes per year in about 10 years.
🔹Special focus will be made on improving the quality of life of people in the BAM settlements.
At the turn of the century, BAM helped open the Asia-Pacific markets to the Russian economy, provided a reliable transit route for the entire of Eurasia, and, in conjunction with the Trans-Siberian Railway, became a truly strategic transport corridor not just of national but global significance.

🤝 On April 22-23, Moscow hosted a meeting of BRICS Sherpas/Sous-sherpas, chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister, Russia’s Sherpa in BRICS Sergey Ryabkov. The participants of the meeting discussed current issues on the agenda of the Russian year in BRICS, including the implementation of decisions adopted at the Johannesburg Summit on August 22-24, 2023.
Russia’s representatives also informed the participants regarding the ongoing preparations for the upcoming BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled to take place in Nizhny Novgorod on June 10-11, 2024.

Сегодня высадили 10 деревьев, в память о подвиге нашего народа в годы Второй мировой войны. В память о ключевой роли Красной армии в победе над фашизмом. Вместе с курсантами эфиопского Военного университета и офицерами повязали георгиевские ленты.
Святой Георгий, кстати, почитается в Эфиопии. Коллеги из Представительства Министерства обороны Российской Федерации при Минобороны Эфиопии провели краткую лекцию - рассказали о символизме чёрного и оранжевого цветов георгиевской ленты от императрицы Екатерины II до наших дней.

Today we have planted 10 trees in the memory of the act of bravery of our people in the years of the Second World War. It has been done in the memory of the crucial role that the Red Army played in the victory over the fascism. Together with the soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officers of the Ethiopian Defense University, we have tied the St. George Ribbons.
St. George is revered in Ethiopia. The colleagues from the Mission of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia have given a short lecture - have explained the symbolism of black and orange colours on the St.George Ribbon, dating back to the empress Catherine the Great and up to nowadays.
