The world's second-biggest continent saw a 100% increase in purchases of Russian goods.
The African continent has significantly boosted imports from Russia, outperforming Moscow's trading partners from North and South America, according to local macroeconomic data cited by Russian business daily RBK.In 2023, the share of African imports in Russia's overall export volumes saw a 100% year-on-year increase from 2.5% to nearly 5%, the media outlet reported, citing the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

Russian Center for Science and Culture (Pushkin Center) in Addis Ababa organized an exhibition of political cartoons drawn by Boris Efimov on Saturday under the theme “Nothing Changes in Politics”
The cartoons featured at the exhibition were selected based on their historical significance and artistic values, it was stated on the occasion.

“Boris Efimov is a great Russian cartoonist. He is the author of about 70,000 drawings. He lived for 108 years and died in 2008. His cartoons depicted major political phenomena in the world including the African continent during his time,” H.E. Ambassador of Russia to Ethiopia Evgeny Terekhin

The President spoke at a gala event to mark the 50th anniversary since the beginning of the construction of Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM)
Vladimir Putin also noted important milestones in the further development of the Eastern Operating Domain:
🔹Continuous second tracks will have to be laid along the entire length of BAM, and more than 300 infrastructure facilities will be put into operation.
🔹The volume of transportation along the Eastern Operating Domain's railway network must reach 270 million tonnes per year in about 10 years.
🔹Special focus will be made on improving the quality of life of people in the BAM settlements.
At the turn of the century, BAM helped open the Asia-Pacific markets to the Russian economy, provided a reliable transit route for the entire of Eurasia, and, in conjunction with the Trans-Siberian Railway, became a truly strategic transport corridor not just of national but global significance.

🤝 On April 22-23, Moscow hosted a meeting of BRICS Sherpas/Sous-sherpas, chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister, Russia’s Sherpa in BRICS Sergey Ryabkov. The participants of the meeting discussed current issues on the agenda of the Russian year in BRICS, including the implementation of decisions adopted at the Johannesburg Summit on August 22-24, 2023.
Russia’s representatives also informed the participants regarding the ongoing preparations for the upcoming BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled to take place in Nizhny Novgorod on June 10-11, 2024.
