💬 Vladimir Putin: When we were inviting you to come to Russia, we set ourselves the fairly simple tasks of creating conditions of freedom, creativity and friendship for you to interact with each other and meet new friends and possibly partners in your future projects. I hope that we succeeded.

• You are all so different. <...> How did you manage to crate this city of world youth when you are so diverse? There must be something you all have in common. Today, in Russia we describe it as our traditional values. They form the foundation of our life, our existence. This means that there is something that unites us.

👉 All of us are human beings. And we are all equal.

• If we are all equal, there is no place for anyone’s exclusivity in the world. There is no place for arrogance, segregation.

• We are all born equal but the question is, do we grow and develop under equal conditions? The answer is, unfortunately, not. This is the greatest injustice in today’s world order.

• If you ask me what can be done for everybody to live and to grow under equal conditions, unlocking their talents for the benefit of their loved ones, their family, their country and perhaps humanity as a whole, I do not know. But what I do know for certain is that we all must strive for it.

• Only by striving for it will we make the world more transparent, just, democratic, sustainable, balanced and safe.

The closing ceremony of the World Youth Festival in Russia was marked by the truly paternal concern of President Vladimir Putin for the foreign guests of the festival, whom he advised to dress warmly.

Perhaps this prompted the #WYF2024 participant from Uganda, Davis Akumpurira, to ask the Russian leader to accept him as a son.

🇪🇹 Ethiopia's National Air Transport Facility Committee reviews the Ethiopian airline's performance over the past six months, highlights its achievements

Ethiopian Airlines has established itself as a top airline in the global aviation industry, Ethiopia's Transport and Logistics Minister, Alemu Sime, said.

The number of passengers transported by the airline increased by 29% compared to the same period last year, a 14% growth in revenue and a 22% increase in profit were experienced by the company, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tassew, revealed.

To guarantee the safety and security of the airline, cutting-edge technologies have been implemented, Ethiopian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner General, Zelalem Mengistie said.

🇪🇹 Ethiopia to launch stock exchange in third quarter of 2024

It will be a public-private partnership of 25% and 75% respectively, Brook Taye, director general of the Ethiopian Capital Markets Authority, told the media.

The first company to participate will be Ethiotelecom with a 10% stake. Five other public companies are being evaluated.

💬Under Taye's leadership, the authority is "creating the necessary environment to make it easy for companies to come to the capital markets," he stressed.

Even though the country is lagging behind in this area, it could be beneficial because it will be able to draw on the experience of other jurisdictions, the official believes.

The stock exchange, the Ethiopia Securities Exchange, already exists as a legal entity. Its regulatory framework has been designed and experts have been hired, he noted.

Voting in the 2024 presidential election is officially underway across Russia

March 14-15, Russian delegation from the city of Kazan, consisting of the acting Head of the Department of International and Intermunicipal Relations of the Kazan City Duma Mr. A.A.Karyakin and the Secretary General of the Eurasian Regional Branch of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Authorities” Mr. R.K.Sagitov, was on a working visit to Ethiopia.
During the meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa Mr Jantirar Abay and the Director of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Department of the Association of Ethiopian Cities Mr. Zegeye Habtiye, the Parties discussed the prospects for the development of Russian-Ethiopian intermunicipal cooperation, as well as in the context of the participation of the two countries in the BRICS. Ethiopian partners were informed about the initiative of the Mayor of Kazan Mr. I.R.Metshin to create an Association of Cities and Municipalities of the BRICS Countries.

The country conference of compatriots is taking place at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (The Pushkin Centre).

A welcoming speech to the delegates on behalf of the Director of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs A.B. Nurizade was read by the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Addis Ababa) M.Yu. Korneev.

M.Yu. Korneev also called on his compatriots to take an active part in voting in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation.

In Addis Ababa, the polling station will open on March 17 at 8:00 on the territory of the Russian embassy.

🇷🇺 #OnThisDay, 🔟 years ago, day to day, the all-Crimean Referendum was held.

On March 16, 2014, the people of the peninsula made an independent and conscious choice, voting in favour of forever being with Russia. To this day it remains one of the most striking and sincere examples of a true triumph of the will of the people and democracy.

🗳 At the referendum, 96.77% of Crimeans voted for reunification with Russia, the turnout was 83.1%. In Sevastopol, the relevant figures were 95.6% and 89.5%, respectively.

The voting was monitored by 135 international observers from 23 countries and 1,240 representatives of local organisations. All noted that the referendum was held without violations and in full conformity with international standards and democratic procedure.

Based on the results of the free expression of will by Crimeans, a treaty was signed on the incorporation of the two new regions into the Russian Federation – the Republic of Crimea and the City of Federal Significance, Sevastopol.

💬 President Putin: In people’s hearts and minds, Crimea has always been an inseparable part of Russia. This firm conviction is based on truth and justice and was passed from generation to generation (from the Address by the President of the Russian Federation on March 18, 2014).

Since the reunification, Crimea has undergone fundamental changes, becoming one of the most dynamically developing regions in the country and the entire continent. The atmosphere of interreligious accord has been maintained on the peninsula, and the rights of all of its ethnic groups are observed without exception.

✅ The processes that have occurred during the last ten years, steady socio-economic development and enduring peace in the multi-ethnic Crimea confirm that the people of this region were correct when making the historic choice in favour of reunification with Russia.

16 марта 2014 года народ полуострова сделал самостоятельный и осознанный выбор, проголосовав за то, чтобы навсегда быть с Россией. Этот выбор и по сей день остается одним из самых ярких и искренних примеров подлинного торжества воли народа и демократии.

🗳 На референдуме за воссоединение с Россией проголосовали 96,77% крымчан, явка составила 83,1%. В Севастополе соответствующие показатели составили 95,6% и 89,5% соответственно.

За голосованием следили 135 международных наблюдателей из 23 стран и 1240 представителей местных организаций. Все отметили, что референдум прошел без нарушений и в полном соответствии с международными стандартами и демократическими процедурами.

По итогам свободного волеизъявления крымчан был подписан договор о включении в состав Российской Федерации двух новых регионов – Республики Крым и города федерального значения Севастополя.

🗓 On March 18, 2014, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, Chairman of the State Council of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov and Head of Sevastopol Alexey Chaly signed the Agreement formalising Crimea’s reunification with the Russian Federation.

🗳 This historic moment occurred just two days after the all-Crimean referendum had been held. 96.77% of Crimeans and 95.6% of Sevastopol residents supported reunification with Russia. It was the embodiment of the right of peoples for self-determination and a true triumph of democracy.

💬 President Putin: In people’s hearts and minds, Crimea has always been an inseparable part of Russia. This firm conviction is based on truth and justice and was passed from generation to generation, over time, under any circumstances (from the Address by the President of the Russian Federation on March 18, 2014).

The ensuing developments, including attempts by the post-coup Ukrainian authorities to punish the peninsula's population, prove that the decision of Crimeans to reunite with Russia was the only way to go. Having made their choice to be with their historical homeland, with Russia, the residents of Crimea avoided the fate of the many Russians and Russian-speakers, did not fall victim to the Russophobic Kiev regime.

Instead, the peninsula and its people flourished, overcoming decades of neglect and decay under Ukraine, becoming one of the most rapidly developing region worldwide.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: The question of who Crimea and Sevastopol belong to is closed. The peninsula is an integral part of the Russian Federation (from the address of Russia's Foreign Minister on the 10th anniversary of the Crimean Spring, March 16, 2014).
