Excerpts from an enterview by H.E. Ambassador to Ethiopia Evgeny Terekhin to ENA:
🔹I can strongly declare that the six months that have elapsed since Ethiopia joined BRICS have already demonstrated a successful and effective participation of Addis Ababa in the activities of this association, which objectively aims and contributes to the construction of multipolar world.

🔹Russia's leadership this year has facilitated Ethiopia's integration, and their active participation has opened doors for even stronger collaboration.

🔹Russia is taking necessary steps to facilitate a harmonious integration of new participants, including Ethiopia, into a numerous formats of the association’s activities.

🔹There is sufficient confidence that the October summit in Kazan is approaching. It will be the 16th summit of the BRICS association with significant outcome.

They expressed interest in further expanding bilateral cooperation, as well as capacity building of medical specialists. A special attention was paid to the issues of developing interaction within the framework of the BRICS.

💬 On July 11, the UN General Assembly reviewed Ukraine’s draft resolution “Safety and security of nuclear facilities of Ukraine, including the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant.”

Ninety-nine countries, mostly members of the collective West which strictly adhere to the bloc discipline, as well as their closest associates, supported the adoption of the text. Western delegations were conspicuously reluctant to take the floor in order to discuss the motives for voting.

Kiev persistently violates the most important point which talks about the unacceptability of attacking the plant.

The Russian Side regularly sends the relevant evidence to the UN Security Council, the IAEA Secretariat, and other international entities. Rafael Grossi himself constantly turns the spotlight on threats to the ZNPP during his briefings at the UN Security Council.

☝️ A right-minded person knows that if the Kiev regime was genuinely interested in keeping the nuclear facilities safe, it would have stopped the irresponsible shelling of ZNPP and the adjacent town of Energodar which is home to the plant’s employees and their families.

In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that Russia stands ready to continue to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of nuclear sites, including the ZNPP and other plants located within our borders.

We call on the Zelensky regime and its Western mentors to come to their senses and to stop acting irresponsibly pushing humanity towards a disaster of planetary proportions.

🇺🇸 The human rights situation in the United States is far from international standards for the protection of fundamental freedoms.

The US continues to flagrantly violate human rights within its borders as well as abroad by, for instance, imposing unlawful unilateral coercive measures (sanctions), the most glaring example of which is its economic blockade of Cuba for more than a decade.

It is also important to mention blatant violations of the international humanitarian law committed by US authorities in third nations. Under the "traditional" pretext of the need to combat terrorism, Washington has continued to indiscriminately use military force. As a result, the casualties among civilians have increased.

☝️ The US actively uses the human rights rhetoric to justify interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations and impose illegal sanctions against them. It has become common practice for the US State Department to release biased reports on the state of human rights in Russia and other undesirable countries, which are used to validate pressure on them.

Washington applies the principle of the extraterritoriality of the US justice and uses it to prey on citizens of sovereign States in flagrant violation of their national legislation.

The Americans are hunting not only Russians, but also citizens of other countries, who are often held without trial in CIA "secret prisons", where they are tortured and humiliated.

Immigrants and inmates, including minors, face constant repression of freedoms in the US. Journalists do not feel safe and become victims of attacks. Citizens' dissatisfaction with voting rights violations has only deepened the divisions in the American society. Alternative opinions have become increasingly censored in social media.

🤦 Despite all the above facts, the US continues to declare itself a global leader in human rights protection. However, Washington is in no hurry to expand its international legal commitments in this area.
