Reflect Over Your Time In Seclusion

Ibnul-Jawzee, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"O servant, bring yourself to account in your seclusion, think of the extinction of your time, and work in your free time for your hard time."

The Best Thing In This Life And The Next

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

Why Should I Remain Seated After The Obligatory Prayers?
From The Greatest Thing That Harms You

Al-Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"From the greatest things that harm the person is free time. The soul will never sit idly; rather, the soul will either busy itself with what benefits it or what harms it. This is inevitable."

A Great Cause For The Absence Of Success In One's Life

Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-'Uthaymeen, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"The heedlessness of the heart when it comes to the remembrance of Allaah is the cause for failure, wasting time, and the absence of success, just as Allaah said: 'and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, and who follows his own lusts, and whose affair (deeds) has been lost.' [Al-Quraan 18:28]. And the meaning of 'affair' means all of his affairs will result in failure. There is no blessing in it. However, when a person is continuous upon the remembrance of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, with his tongue, heart, and limbs, he will acquire a lot of blessings and good in his life."

From The Greatest Of Blessings...

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"Being firm upon knowledge and faith during the occurrence of trials and doubts is from the greatest of blessings. There are people who have faith during the times of well-being, but when they're put to trial, they apostate. Therefore, it must be known, that a person's firmness upon his faith during trials and doubts is from the greatest of blessings."

Your Trials Are From The Biggest Of Blessings You Have

Al-Imaam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

وضع الله المصائب والبلايا والمحن رحمةً بين عباده يُكفِّرُ بها من خطاياهم، فهي من أعظم نِعَمهِ عليهم وإن كرهتها أنفسُهم

"Allaah placed calamities and trials [in this world] as a mercy for His servants which He uses to atone for their sins. So they are from His greatest of blessings upon them even if they dislike them."

A Statement That Deserves To Be Written In Gold

Al-Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"So pain and difficulty are either (in reality) kindness and mercy, or justice and wisdom, or rectification and preparation for goodness which is to come, or they are prevention for a harm that would have been far greater."

You Either Come Out As Gold Or Filth

'Abdul-Qaadir Al-Jilaanee stated:

"O my son, the calamity hasn't come to destroy you, it has only come to test your patience and faith. The calamity is the bellow of the servant, therefore, he either comes out as gold or filth."

It's Upon The Righteous Woman To Marry A Righteous Man

Umm ʿAbdillaah Bint Shaykh Muqbil Ibn Haadee Al-Waadiʿee, may Allaah preserve her:

“It is upon the woman to choose a righteous man. And how many women are righteous but don't choose someone sufficiently righteous, so she marries a loser and he drags her to his ideology and (lowly) state."

A Woman Presenting Herself For Marriage To A Righteous Man

Al-Imaam lbn Baaz, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"Likewise, if the woman has an interest in the righteous man, she can say (to him): 'O so and so, I love you for the sake of Allaah. I have no objections if you were to go to my father and propose to me (for marriage through him).' There is no harm in (her doing) this."

Then Why Did We Learn This Knowledge?

It's reported that a man insulted Imaam Wakee' and he didn't reply, so it was said to him: "Will you not respond to him?" Wakee' replied: "Then why did we learn this knowledge?!"

Three Things That Can Save You, And Three Things That Can Destory You

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"ثلاث منجيات: خشية الله تعالى في السر والعلانية والعدل في الرضا والغضب والقصد في الفقر والغنى وثلاث مهلكات: هوى متبع وشح مطاع وإعجاب المرء بنفسه."

"Three things can save a person:

1. Fear of Allaah in private and public.
2. Fairness in happiness and anger.
3. Generosity in both poverty and wealth.

And three things can destroy a person:

1. Desires that are followed,
2. Greed that is obeyed.
3. A person being amazed and pleased with themselves."
