"Does Google Scholar have an API?" Short answer: no — and that's by design. Google wants users inside its ecosystem, not pulling data out of it.

In the new article we walk through what works instead: third-party services (SerpApi, ScraperAPI), Python libraries (Scholarly, PyScholar), alternative sources with real APIs (OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, arXiv, PubMed), and your own scraper with proxies and reCAPTCHA handling — full working code included.

Here is a quick guide on pulling data from Wikipedia in Python, either through its official API or with your own scraper.

The API caps you at around 10 requests per minute, which is fine for a pet project but not enough if you're building a dataset or a knowledge base.

In the article we walk through working examples on the Wikipedia-API library and on requests + BeautifulSoup with rotating proxies, and explain how to set things up so you don't get IP-banned along the way.
