🇷🇺 Russian Advances: The situation in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast remains highly dynamic. This sector continues to be weakly stabilized due to the heavy strain on Ukrainian Armed Forces resources along other directions.

📍 Mapped Territorial Changes: Between 26 September and 3 October, Russian Armed Forces (RuAF) captured Berezove, Kalynivske, and Ternove. According to DeepState, the total area of territory seized in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast amounts to 34.73 km²

🇷🇺 Russian sources: Russian war correspondents and Telegram channels generally confirm RuAF gains near Oleksiivka and Sosnivka, adding operational details. In particular, war correspondent Marat Khairullin described the strategy in this sector as “cutting UAF logistics.” According to his assessment, the seizure of Stepove allowed Russian forces to sever the Orestopil–Oleksiivka highway, which previously linked two major Ukrainian defensive hubs — northern and southern. As a result, these UAF strongpoints are now isolated from one another, creating conditions for their gradual destruction by Russian troops. Other pro-Russian analysts likewise emphasized that the capture of Sosnivka and neighboring villages disrupted UAF resupply lines between Velyka Mykhailivka and Orestopil.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian sources: According to the UAF General Staff report on 29 September, the enemy launched 24 assault attempts in a single day across the Novopavlivka axis, in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Piddubne, Vorone, Sosnivka, Sichneve, Kalynivske, Ternove, Olhivske, and Novohryhorivka. All of these attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenses. The same report highlighted that UAF defenders also halted Russian offensive actions near Oleksiivka, Zaporizke, Berezove, and Novomykolaivka — effectively along the entire line of the enemy’s new breakthroughs. Operational Command “East” noted that the situation was particularly tense on the Pokrovsk axis, where Russia deployed significant forces and conducted continuous artillery and air strikes. Nevertheless, Kyiv emphasized that all enemy attempts to penetrate UAF defensive lines in these areas failed.
A special statement was issued by the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which defends this sector. The brigade denied Russian claims of “occupying” Verbove, calling them fake. According to Ukrainian soldiers, a small enemy group did infiltrate the outskirts of Verbove and filmed footage with a Russian flag, but was soon completely destroyed, and the village was cleared by the 110th Brigade. “Verbove is under the control of the 110th Brigade”, the unit stressed, adding that DeepState’s labeling of the settlement as a “grey zone” was inaccurate. The brigade also noted that they “have questions regarding the information activity” of certain OSINT projects that create a distorted picture favorable to the adversary.

🎯 Strategic Value: The events of 25 September – 2 October in the Oleksiivka–Verbove–Sosnivka sector demonstrate a localized success for Russia. The Russian Army has improved its tactical posture, creating a threat to the flank of Ukrainian positions in the south. This advance is characterized by the constrained availability of UAF forces, tied down by the need to stabilize breakthroughs along other fronts.
