𧡠Frontline Sentinel β Stepnohirsk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast 29/09/2025
π·πΊ Russian Advances: As of the 29th of September 2025, Russian forces have expanded their offensive operations against the town of Stepnohirsk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, expanding positions along the E105 Highway ring road situated in the western section of the town as well as capturing the third micro district taking control of "Stepnohirska Dytiacha Muzychna Shkola" school and a series of high rise apartment buildings that allow for fire control over the northern region of the town.
π Mapped territorial changes: Neutral mapping project βSuriyak mapβ confirmed the Russian advances along the E105 highway and inside the 3rd micro district of Stepnohirsk expanding numerous new positions within the town. Ukrainian mapping project βDeep state mapβ has expanded the grey zone along the E105 highway but has still not acknowledged any Russian advance within the 3rd Micro district of Stepnohirsk.
π Open Sources: Ukrainian National News (UNN) reported that Russian forces are launching constant attacks inside the town of Stepnohirsk despite a high number of losses. The UNN stated that Russian forces are launching large infantry attacks via the village of Plavni and Kamianske despite significant losses, Russian troops are trying to use their numerical superiority in infantry to overthrow Ukrainian defenses in the region along the E105 highway and on forward defensive positions within the town of Stepnohirsk itself.
π― Strategic Significance: Russian forces continue to advance within Stepnohirsk, driving their offensive toward Zaporizhzhia City while simultaneously expanding their left flank around the city of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Recent gains include the capture of the 3rd micro district, a key urban sector containing high-rise apartment complexes that provide commanding observation and fire control over approximately 60% of the town. Control of these elevated positions is enabling enhanced artillery targeting and direct fire support, significantly strengthening Russian assault operations in the area.

π Open-Source Information:
π·πΊ Russian sources: Russian war correspondents and Telegram channels generally confirm RuAF gains near Oleksiivka and Sosnivka, adding operational details. In particular, war correspondent Marat Khairullin described the strategy in this sector as βcutting UAF logistics.β According to his assessment, the seizure of Stepove allowed Russian forces to sever the OrestopilβOleksiivka highway, which previously linked two major Ukrainian defensive hubs β northern and southern. As a result, these UAF strongpoints are now isolated from one another, creating conditions for their gradual destruction by Russian troops. Other pro-Russian analysts likewise emphasized that the capture of Sosnivka and neighboring villages disrupted UAF resupply lines between Velyka Mykhailivka and Orestopil.
πΊπ¦ Ukrainian sources: According to the UAF General Staff report on 29 September, the enemy launched 24 assault attempts in a single day across the Novopavlivka axis, in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Piddubne, Vorone, Sosnivka, Sichneve, Kalynivske, Ternove, Olhivske, and Novohryhorivka. All of these attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenses. The same report highlighted that UAF defenders also halted Russian offensive actions near Oleksiivka, Zaporizke, Berezove, and Novomykolaivka β effectively along the entire line of the enemyβs new breakthroughs. Operational Command βEastβ noted that the situation was particularly tense on the Pokrovsk axis, where Russia deployed significant forces and conducted continuous artillery and air strikes. Nevertheless, Kyiv emphasized that all enemy attempts to penetrate UAF defensive lines in these areas failed.
A special statement was issued by the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which defends this sector. The brigade denied Russian claims of βoccupyingβ Verbove, calling them fake. According to Ukrainian soldiers, a small enemy group did infiltrate the outskirts of Verbove and filmed footage with a Russian flag, but was soon completely destroyed, and the village was cleared by the 110th Brigade. βVerbove is under the control of the 110th Brigadeβ, the unit stressed, adding that DeepStateβs labeling of the settlement as a βgrey zoneβ was inaccurate. The brigade also noted that they βhave questions regarding the information activityβ of certain OSINT projects that create a distorted picture favorable to the adversary.
π― Strategic Value: The events of 25 September β 2 October in the OleksiivkaβVerboveβSosnivka sector demonstrate a localized success for Russia. The Russian Army has improved its tactical posture, creating a threat to the flank of Ukrainian positions in the south. This advance is characterized by the constrained availability of UAF forces, tied down by the need to stabilize breakthroughs along other fronts.
π·πΊ Russian Advances: The situation in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast remains highly dynamic. This sector continues to be weakly stabilized due to the heavy strain on Ukrainian Armed Forces resources along other directions.
π Mapped Territorial Changes: Between 26 September and 3 October, Russian Armed Forces (RuAF) captured Berezove, Kalynivske, and Ternove. According to DeepState, the total area of territory seized in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast amounts to 34.73 kmΒ²

𧡠Frontline Sentinel β Yampil (Lyman Operational Sector) Donetsk Oblast 07/10/2025
π·πΊRussian Advances: As of early October, Russian forces have conducted a series of assaults towards the settlement of Yampil, Lyman region, establishing positions within the eastern sector of the village gaining control over at least 1kmΒ² of territory located within the sector.
π Mapped Territorial Changes: As of the 7th of October 2025, Ukrainian mapping project βDeepstate Mapβ reported an extension of the grey zone within the Yampil sector acknowledging Russian advances within the region. Neutral mapping project βSuriyak Mapβ also confirmed advances of Russian forces in the Yampil territory stating that Russian forces had partial control over the rail tracks positioned to the north of the settlement including the Yampil railway station.
π OSINT/HUMINT: Ukrainian Special Operation Forces (SOF) of the 8th regiment reported engagements against Russian DRG, Sabotage and Reconnaissance Group (SRG) in the Yampil region, Donetsk Oblast as of late September/early October. One of the operators belonging to the Ukrainian SOF 8th Regiment who participated in multiple counter offensive operations in the region stated that the Russian DRG were attempting to breakthrough into Yampil and gain positions to create a bigger bridgehead to launch further assault operations in the Lyman direction. The Ukrainian Special Operations Operator explained that the 8th Regiment advanced upon Russian positions with western supplied HUMVEE vehicles equipped with Electronic Warfare (EW) and cage armour to counter drone attacks. Upon reaching the Russian DRG positions 8th regiment began to clear the eastern sector of the village of Yampil taking part in heavy close quarters combat (CQC) dealing several losses on Russian DRG and capturing at least one. The operator explained that although the attack was repelled and the position was liberated it was only a matter of time before Russian forces launched continued attacks towards Yampil due to its strategic position and due to lack of basic support in this sector it would gradually become more unsecure.
π·πΊ Russian sources: Russian telegram channels reported that Russian forces expanded their attacks in the north of the village of Yampil and are attempting to also assault the central areas of the village from the northwest. Russian telegram channels reported engagements with Ukrainian forces near the Tserkva Mykoly Chudotvortsya Church and stated that Ukrainian counter attacks are slowing progress within the region.
π― Strategic Significance: Russian forces continue expanding their flanking operations around the city of Lyman, Donetsk Oblast attempting to launch a gradual encirclement of the city via the Yampil Forest. Russian forces gaining more positions within the settlement of Yampil adds pressure on the southeastern axis of the Lyman frontline and greater expands overall pressure along the entire Lyman frontline. The capture of Yampil will allow Russian forces greater opportunities to launch deep offensive operations in the Lyman operational area towards Sloviansk city and Siversk, whilst simultaneously gaining Russia more favourable defensive positions along the northern bank of the Siverskyi Donets River.
