𧡠Frontline Sentinel β Dobropillia, Donetsk Oblast, 21/08/2025
π·πΊ Russian Advances
According to OSINT analysts, by mid-August the Russian command continued exploiting the breach near Dobropillia achieved on 11 August. DeepState reported that east of Pokrovsk, Russian detachments reached Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, and Vesele, forming a long βfangβ east of Bilozerne and Dobropillia. These ~15-man assault teams bypassed AFU fortifications by masking in tree lines and employing FPV strike UAVs, expanding the active battlespace to ~20 km. Following the breach, a race against time began between the UAF and RUAF to capitalize on the opening. The UAF General Staff reacted rapidly, reallocating assets to stabilize the sector. Confirmed deployments to this area included formations specialized in assault and precision actions: the 1st NGU βAzovβ Corps, the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, and the 7th Air Assault Corps.
π Mapped Territorial Changes
Per DeepState and Suriyak maps, the seizure of Vesele and adjacent villages created a salient approximately 10β12 km deep and 6β8 km wide. By the end of the reporting period, Russian forces retained positions on the southern outskirts of Kucheriv Yar and Novyi Donbas, approaching the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast boundary. Ukrainian sources state that after a series of UAF counterattacks (around 15 August), Hruz'ke, Rubizhne, Novovodyane, Petrivka, Vesele, and Zolotyi Kolodiaz were cleared within the breach zone.
π Open Sources
An official Russian MoD message (amplified via βKrasnaya Liniyaβ war correspondents) acknowledges that a stable line of contact has not yet been established, and both sides are reinforcing the breach area. Russian propaganda emphasizes claimed βsuccesses,β with Donetsk media citing the βVoennaya Khronikaβ Telegram channel about alleged panic and disarray in the Ukrainian command near Dobropillia.
Ukrainian command reports stabilization and successful counterattacks. The UAF General Staff stated that 4β16 August saw Hruz'ke, Rubizhne, Novovodyane, Petrivka, Vesele, and Zolotyi Kolodiaz cleared. The Azov command and Operational Group βDniproβ confirm intensive counter-measures βalong the perimeter of the breach.β According to Colonel Trehubov, spokesperson for OOS βDnipro,β the βhornsβ (edges) of the salient have already been cut, although Russian troops remain in its central part. He also noted that Dobropillia is almost empty, indicating civilian evacuation. The AFU General Staff and President Zelenskyi state that Ukrainian forces have largely neutralized the Russian infiltration groups; as of 21 August, Zelenskyi reported βup to 90%β of the infiltrators destroyed. Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi reported the clearance of six settlements and hundreds of Russian personnel eliminated on the Dobropillia axis. Overall, Ukrainian sources stress that counteroffensive actions will continue in the coming days: the main effort is aimed at severing the salient along the MykolaivkaβMayak line, while military intelligence notes the encirclement of separate enemy groupings in a pocket near Rozdol'ne.
π― Strategic Significance
The Dobropillia sector remains one of the key inflection points on the front. Russian control of advantageous heights and road nodes near Dobropillia threatens the forward flank of the Kostiantynivka axis and could degrade defenses along the DonetskβDnipropetrovsk boundary. It also highlights vulnerabilities in the defensive line and how quickly the tactical situation can shiftβexperience the Russian Armed Forces will likely seek to replicate to further stretch already thin UAF defensive lines.

𧡠Frontline Sentinel β Siversk, Donetsk Oblast, 28/08/2025
π·πΊ Russian Advances
Russian forces on the Siversk axis intensified pressure through small assault groups along the arc Hryhorivka β Serebryanka β Vyimka β Fedorivka, as well as approaches to Siversk itself. During August 21-27, attacks were recorded northeast (Serebryanka, Hryhorivka), with consolidation observed along the axis from Hryhorivka to Serebryanka. Significant advancement is also observed in Serebryanska Forest with pressure toward Yampil.
π Mapped Territorial Changes
Cartographic and OSINT projects indicate Russian Armed Forces advancement in the Serebryanka, Yampil, and Serebryanska Forest areas. Advancement area is estimated at 36.7 kmΒ².
π Open SourcesRussian Media and Telegram Channels
Report significant successes: "Akhmat" commander Alyoshin (Chechen forces) announced "complete clearing" of Serebryanka Forest. Telegram channel "Rybar" (Ukraina.ru) noted offensive operations south of Siverskβreaching Vyimka and clearing "gray zones" near Hryhorivka. "Donbass Partisan"/Tsargrad reports creation of a "semi-circle around Siversk," advancement toward Verkhn'okam'yans'ke and road blocking, with military correspondents comparing the situation to the Pokrovsk breakthrough.
πΊπ¦ Ukrainian Sources
Ukrainian General Staff regularly reports containing attacks. By evening August 23, UAF repelled five enemy assaults in Hryhorivka, Pereizne, and Fedorivka areas on the Siversk axis. By morning August 26, the General Staff noted Ukrainian forces stopped five breakthrough attempts in Fedorivka, Hryhorivka, and Serebryanka areas.
"Khortytsia/Lyman" Operational Command emphasizes fierce fighting in Serebryanska Forest and its outskirts. According to spokespersons, Russian assaults in Serebryanka and Vyimka areas were repelled, with occupiers advancing in "small infantry groups" employing drones.
π― Strategic Significance
Serebryanka and heights north of it control access to Slavyansk-Kramatorsk. If Ukraine loses them completely, Siversk faces "cauldron" threatβseverance from main supply and withdrawal roads. Russian command aims to establish operational semi-circle around Siversk. Recent breakthrough to Verkhn'okam'yans'ke (1km from Siversk outskirts) is termed "important link in forming future encirclement."

𧡠Frontline Sentinel β Plavni, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, 01/09/2025
π·πΊ Russian Advances: Russian forces have captured the village of Plavni, situated In the Zaporizhzhia Oblast regaining control of an area 2kmΒ² in size. Russian forces launched continued offensive actions against the northern district of Plavni, eventually taking control over the railway network situated along the northern village limits and establishing forward positions within the proximity of the E-105 Highway.
π Mapped Territorial Changes: Pro Ukrainian mapping project Deepstate map has confirmed that Russian forces have captured at least 70% of the village of Plavni the remaining 30% is reported to be within the grey zone. Neutral mapping project Suriyak maps has reported the full locality of Plavni to be fully under Russian control as well as reported that Russian forces have advanced further north towards western districts of Stepnohirsk.
π Open Sources:
Russian Media and Telegram Channels:
Russian media βΠΠΎΠ΅Π½Π½ΠΎΠ΅ Π΄Π΅Π»ΠΎβ stated on the 28th of August 2025 that Russian airborne units had successfully captured the village of Plavni and had continued assaults into the southern districts of Stepnohirsk. Pro-Russian mapping groups also βconfirmedβ the changes in territory within the Plavni and Stepnohirsk direction.
πΊπ¦ Ukrainian Sources: Head of the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov said that Russia had significantly increased attacks across multiple settlements of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast including Plavni where the situation was described as βdifficultβ. Fedorov stated that Russian forces were constantly using large quantities of Multi Launch Rocket System (MLRS) against Ukrainian fortified positions within the village, sometimes up to four times per day.
π― Strategic Significance: The Russian capture of Plavni marks a strategically significant development along the Zaporizhzhia front, as control over the village secures access to the northern railway network and strengthens positions near the vital E-105 Highway. With reports of Russian soldiers pushing into the southern districts of Stepnohirsk, Moscowβs forces are attempting to widen their bridgehead and pressure on Ukrainian defenses deeper into Zaporizhzhia Oblast. This advance places Russian troops within roughly 22 kilometers of Zaporizhzhia city itself, raising concerns over increased threats to the regional hub and highlighting the growing intensity of fighting in this sector. The new advance also strengthens Russiaβs left flank around the Ukrainian defended town of Orikhiv, adding more pressure to Ukrainian defenders from the west matched with increased pressure from the eastern direction of the Donetsk Oblast and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
