Wadi al-Dhahab, Homs | Two Civilian Brothers Detained in Pre-Dawn Raid Amid Ongoing Sectarian Campaign

Brothers Ammar and Zein Darwish, both civilians who had previously completed reconciliation procedures with local authorities, were arrested in the early hours of Friday morning in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood of Homs.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., forces affiliated with the de facto authorities arrived in two civilian cars and two vans—one black, one white—and raided the family’s residence on Tello Street. The brothers were taken to an undisclosed location, and their current status remains unknown.

This incident follows the closure of Karm Al-Louz and Karm Al-Zeitoun streets on the evening of April 24. Just days prior, state-aligned media had promoted a campaign referred to as the "Remnants" operation. What followed were widespread reports of killings, abductions, and terror tactics targeting specific communities.

Relatives describe him as a peaceful man who has worked tirelessly to support his family. His brother-in-law wrote, “I entrust my affair to God. Imad has nothing to do with politics or the regime, just a man trying to live in dignity.”

His whereabouts remain unknown.

Homs | A Dawn of Terror and Blood: Violent Raids and Sectarian Purges in the Early Hours

At dawn today, Homs witnessed a wave of brutal raids carried out by members of the HTS led General Security forces, supported by armed Bedouin groups and other unknown militants. The attacks marked another chapter in the ongoing sectarian-based violence, with killings, intimidation, and abductions continuing unabated.

Timeline of Events:

12:00 a.m. – The home of lawyer Hafez Abdul Karim Shamsin, located near the clinics in al-Nuzha, was raided. Gold and money were stolen, and Shamsin was arrested. His whereabouts remain unknown.

12:30 a.m. – 31-year-old Ali Asef Ibrahim was arrested after a General Security raid on his home in al-Nuzha. He was taken out and shot in cold blood at the door of his house, in full view of the street.

1:00 a.m. – In the Police Housing neighborhood, a group of five armed men in blue uniforms, driving a Santa Fe vehicle, stormed the home of 60-year-old Hani Odeh, a theater assistant. He was taken to an unknown location.

2:00 a.m. – Nawfal Ibrahim Al-Youssef, 51, was arrested after his home in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood was raided by General Security officers. Despite having settled his status and holding a security card, he was taken away in a white van. His whereabouts are unknown.

2:30 a.m. – The General Security forces raided the home of Mohammed Saeed Al-Waari, a third-year university student, in Karm Al-Loz. Amid his mother's cries, he was taken, and later found dead from a gunshot wound to the head. He had no criminal record or arrest warrants.

2:30 a.m. – In the same time frame, brothers Ammar and Zein Darwish, both civilians who had completed their reconciliation process, were arrested in Wadi al-Dhahab. They were taken to an undisclosed location without explanation.

2:30 a.m. – 58-year-old Haitham Muhammad, a civilian with no prior issues with authorities, was arrested in Karm al-Zeitoun. His body was later found near the Uqba Ibn Nafi School in the same neighborhood.

3:30 a.m. – Imad Aziz Al-Wasouf, a 49-year-old civil servant and father of four, was arrested from his home on Al-Khudari Street. The raid was marked by the assault of his elderly mother and wife, with no legal justification.

Karm Al-Loz – The home of Abdul Aziz Al-Radwan, a Suzuki driver and father of four, was raided by security forces. He was taken to an unknown location.

Al-Nuzha – Yahya Al-Jardi, a law student living with his sick mother, was arrested by masked officers who threatened his mother with shooting. He was found dead later, with four bullet wounds, one to the head.

Karm al-Zeitoun, Al-Wazir Street – Armed Bedouins, accompanied by a man in a Public Security uniform, raided the home of Alaa and Hussein al-Nasr. They were killed and their bodies dumped in front of their home in the street.

These coordinated attacks targeted the neighborhoods of Karm al-Loz, Karm al-Zeitoun, al-Nuzha, Wadi al-Dhahab, and Tello Street. Doors were broken down, residents were beaten and insulted, and many young men were arrested without legal justification. The violence follows a media campaign promoting the so-called “remnants” operation, which was followed by the closure of key streets in preparation for a night of terror.

The ongoing cycle of killing, abductions, and forced displacement is carried out on sectarian grounds, with widespread international silence and no deterrence from local authorities. The atrocities continue with impunity, as repression and brutality dominate the lives of civilians.

Homs, Syria | Mass Execution of Alawite Civilians Highlights Sectarian Atrocities

A new massacre has shaken Homs, where seven Alawite civilians were arrested during coordinated pre-dawn raids then executed in cold blood. All were non-combatants with no known affiliations or charges.

This wave of targeted killings underscores the brutality of the current de facto authorities, operating with impunity and perpetuating systematic violence rooted in sectarian hatred.

The victims of this massacre include:

Hafez Abdul Karim Shamsin
Mohammed Saeed Al-Waari
Ali Asef Ibrahim
Yahya Al-Jardi
Alaa Al-Nasr
Hussein Al-Nasr
Haitham Muhammad

These acts stand in direct violation of human rights and legal norms, reinforcing fears that Syria is being ruled not by a state, but by a network of terror.

Mohammad Saeed Al-Waari was also a musician.

A student. A musician. A soul full of promise.

Mohammad wasn’t just studying for a better future, he was composing it, note by note. In a world divided by hate, he chose harmony. He was taken not for what he did, but for who he was, an Alawite, a son of Homs, caught in the cruel grip of sectarian violence.

They silenced his voice, but they cannot erase his melody. His music, his dreams, his humanity, they live on in the hearts of those who refuse to forget.

May your spirit find peace, Mohammad. And may your memory be a reminder that no faith, no name, no identity should ever be a death sentence.

Rest in Peace, Mohammad Saeed Al-Waari
